I agree... I have been patiently waiting for any M5 or M6 on the road but I havent been able to find any at all... The quest continues...

I will agree these are very powerful cars above 120 mph. But so is mine!!
Who cares about going above 120mph? How often do you get a chance to do this? What matters is 0-100 or stop lights racing...

I'm not saying MB wouldn't do the same, BUT, stock E55's can pull 116MPH at the track, outside magazine tests...

I have 10 slips showing my stock E55 pulling between 116.1 and 116.97 MPH.....

With respect to the ringers, the same would hold true for the first 03 E55's tested showing 116 in the q/m

Don't race any M6's. Give me a break. I can't wait to run one. Out of the whole I could porobably beat one on foot. No way No how will an M6 take an E55 in the 1/4 mile. If your car is tuned, faah get about it.. The question is how many car lengths will you beat it by..
This man knows what he's talking about and i'm with him. I would love to run an M6 especially past 100mph and see what exactly all the fuss is about.

Do you have a dyno sheet of your K8?

If you're talking about a stock55k cars then yes but if you've got a K2, K3, K4 or S8 under the hood then it's only the begining for us over 100mph. And that's something i would really like to see.

I hate to say this, but M6 is pretty damn fast!!!!!
My friend in Korea has one, so we go out for ride all the time~
We raced stock E55, 996 Turbo, SLK55, CLK55, and many other~
But it just walks away~!!!!!!! (after coupe seconds, 996 Turbo was just a dot in the mirror~it was that bad~) Kinda sad, but somethin that we have to admit even though we hate bimmers~~~lol
I think the M6 is in the different level than all of our car~~(More like Lamborghini Gallardo)
But im curious to see which one is faster between M6 vs E55 K2~~~
what do u guyz think?

A K2, Renntech, or Brbabus tuned car will walk a Gallardo as well. What are you talking about. Gallardo's aren't fast. Check out the times on this website. 1/4 mile in 12.3. As for you friend in Korea, his car probably has launch control. And at what speed does he pull on the stock E55.

Yeah, you need to check your sources. All new M5's and M6's have launch control. I actually saw it used on a brand new M6 about a week ago.

Not in the US. Read Road & Track February 2006 where they tested the M5 and M6. "Of note, we used BMW's Formula 1-like launch control mode (which won't be available in the U.S.) to achieve our best times".

If you don't beleive Road & Track, check out the m5board.com. The launch control in the US is GARBAGE because it launches the vehicle at 1500 rpms.

Wow. That's a lot to bite off for a 17 year old. I was just in Irvine BMW and they had a black one in the showroom - they were asking for $140K. Taxes, title, etc... probably $160K+.

It doesn't matter the amount of torque once you're already moving. In the perfect world, all that torque would make a big difference from a dig but since most of us live in reality all the extra 200 ft-lbs of torque will do is smoke the tires (street tires). AMG cars have a ton of torque but rarely can we ever use 100% of it off the line.

Jeremy Clarkson did a nice comparo of the Aston V8, M6, and 997S on Top Gear video. They showed that to get the M6 to launch a quick 0-60 you needed to navigate about 10 menus to turn on the 500hp engine mode, set the tranny for launch control, etc which took about 30 seconds in all. Something like having the latest PC 9+ghz which requires a 5 minute boot up time to impress your friends.

sure it's fast, but I don't think the M6 is on a different level, you're comparing a coupe vs a 4 door, I don't think the M6 anything like a Gallardo.....

Either I have an exceptionally fast Gallardo or an exceptionally slow 06' E55
Because there is no possible way that the E55 will run with the Gallardo.

Have you taken both cars to the track ? Because until you get into the triple digits both cars are about even stock.

have you run em side by side? the numbers are close.... the E55 can hang with the Gallardo for a while......

A BMW salesman in Dallas told me that you get 5 all out launches, after that your warranty is void. Pretty good deal, buy a $90k car and get to launch 5 times!

Doesn't surprise me that you would say that at all. When you are in the E55 it moves so smoothly you wouldn't even notice that you are doing triple digits. I am sure the Gallardo feels like it is doing 100mph when you are doing 100 mph. Unless you run them side by side at the track I don't think you can say which is faster. There are tuned E55s on this board that run mid-to high 11 seconds. My comment was that a Renntech, K2, or Brabus car would outrun a stock Gallardo. Unless your stock Gallardo is running 11s I don't think you can say it is exceptionally fast.

The E55 would get the hole shot.Only because just dropping the clutch on the Lambo is not recommended.Mine is a 6sp.But after 100 feet the race would be over.

I clearly am not bashing the E55! I own one.But the Lambo's additional hp,and the 1000lb less of weight is real evident as soon as it gets moving.

Please post some numbers..Better yet check out the numbers of other Gallardo owners... And then look at the E55 numbers.. If your Gallardo is running 11s, you have one fast Gallardo...

heh, you've got both.... I know your not bashing either....

Here is a stock Gallardo dyno graph:

http://www.dragtimes.com/Lamborghini...slip-8854.html

puts down the same horsepower as the E55's, but is 100+ pounds shy on the torque side....

even so, with the Gallardo 900 pounds lighter than the E55, I can't see how the E55 can hang, even though track numbers show that it should....

No launch mode in the US? well if thats true then you guys should have nothing to worry about from off the line. Does anyone know what an M5/6 will do 0-100km WITHOUT using the launch control??

It will be more fun for the modded 55k owners as the M drivers will be more expecting to win
