What would REALLY look best - and its something I've always wanted - is a diffuser similar to the CL or CLS AMG's. Its got the black piece but then right at the bottom theres another silver strip in between the pipes. THAT, I think, would perfectly balance the rear of the car.

And I wouldn't mind the black so much either (I did live with for a year, and it was fine). Its just that it is CHEAP junk black plastic that kills me. Black Carbon fiber... for me silver carbon fiber... a nice painted black... really, anthing but this crap would be better...

I've got to agree with you too, it does indeed look very cheap. I'm eventually going to get it in black carbon fiber. That would look soooo nice.

Neal - can you make this in CF for us?

I wasn't sure if i was ever going to attempt to do it, but i think i may wrap a stock peice for the hell of it and see how it goes. I never took one off, so you guys are saying they pretty much just stick on? I was going to take it off my CLS500 before, but didn't want to crack it.

If you can make this in CF you would be able to sell a butt load of them. I think there will be much more interest in this than the CF Lip and CF hood.

I'm doing a few, starting it Wednesday, should be done in 2-3 weeks the most. I am also going to see if i can do some in silver carbon fiber. Price will be about $600 maybe less.

There better be interest in the front lip, lol i spent a **** load of money to get it done.

Well, if you make a silver carbon fiber front lip, I'll buy it for no other reason than to match my rear silver carbon fiber diffuser you're making... and I'll paint my existing Carlllllsssooonnn front lip white and throw it on my white 320 CDI.

Sounded like a good plan, unfortunately, the lip will only be in black CF. I tried doing front lips in silver CF but it never came out right with some of the curves. Some people are not sure, but there is no such thing as real carbon fiber in any other color but black. The silver, red, blue etc.. are a faux material that looks identical to carbon fiber. But it is much thicker and does not bend as easy as the real material so its not easy to work with. Still looks awesome though!

Fake or not, it can't be as bad as the ultra fake stock black piece of plastic, so I'd still want silver in the rear. That silver CF pic on the other thread looks realllllllllllly good...

I didn't mean that there isn't interest in the front lip, I just meant to say that I believe that there will be "more" interest in the rear diffuser, simply because everyones hates the cheap plastic that is currently there.

I've got first dibs on the rear diffuser.

20+ to list......
For a sporty look, I will leave it the way it came; however, if you are after the classy style, definitely get it body color matched. Mine is arrving in 10days, and it's Obsidian Black, so I can get away with it.

I agree! Silver looks awesome. Don't get me wrong, just because its a faux material does not make it bad. I love it. It's strong, still light weight, looks real, and best of all, looks really cool!

I met t-bone back in early 2004 and he had taken his black piece off so when I got mine in 03/2004 I wanted to take my piece off too. But then I realized that only when you get real close does it look cheap and from another driver's view it truly emphasizes the the double doubles (exhaust) IMO. I love seeing other E55's drive by showing off those exhaust pieces separated by black especially lowered ones.

Now that I have black wheels and the offsetting pano roof I will keep the black piece.
