Hey guys any thoughts on this race? Would a k2 or renntech stage 2 be able to keep up with or beat a carrea gt in a street race either from stop or say a 40-50mph roll? How about a ford gt in the same race? Just curious if any of you know.

No and NO you are talking about two cars that can run the quarter in the low 11's and with some dr's could possibly do it in the 10's. Not to mention the weight to horsepower ratio, aero and all that good stuff.

Now with all that being said if you have a set up like the almighty MR. FSU then I and everyone else would say yes. I guess you would need more stages!

Not a chance especially with the Carrera GT. AWE dynoed a stock Carrera GT at 578rwhp. On top of that the car weighs nothing. A stock Ford GT would be a better race but, im guessing that the GT will pull away progressively as speeds increase. I still wouldn't mind a K2 though. I mean really, how many times are you gonna see either car and have a chance to race it?

Yup, toss out all the seats, consoles, and strip everything. The 55 would take on anything.

From a roll, no chance in hell. In the 1/4 mile from a dig, you'd have a chance if you've got M/T DR's, and a decent (75-100) shot of nitrous. I believe that is what DerekFSU had when he hit a high 10 with his E55.

E55 might have a chance if the Carerra GT:

wasn't properly run in yet, needs at least 10k miles to race
not in s6 SMGIII mode
had DSC left on
was in P400 mode
didn't have launch control on

oh wait, that's for the M5....

I know I am going to get flamed for this but from a stop I think a modded E55 has a chance against the FORD GT not the Porsche. Remeber he asked about a street race not a 1/2 mile where the Ford would have a chance to pull away and you also have to take into consideration that a lot of people who will be driving this car do not know how to get the full potential out of it. I have seen several 1/4 slips for K2's in the mid to high 11's and 1/4 slips for the GT's any where from 11.0 to 12.0 which would give you a "chance" although slim.

Thanks guys just curious, I have seen a ford gt around and last night saw a carrea being chased by a 996 tt and had the chance to turn around and join in but didnt much feel the need since I wasnt sure I would even catch up since they were going the other way. I have seen the ford two times now both times going the other way but it is only a matter of time before we pull up and go for it. I dont mind losing to those cars either its all about having fun and getting my money out of my k2. What about a modded sl600 or sl65 or even a cl600 or cl65 modded any chance or still a losing battle?

Hey, we all love our cars but an E55 (modified or not) would get crushed by the Ford or the Porsche. Sure, anything can happen during an impromptu street race, but all things being equal, my money is on the other guys.

Rock I agree but notice I said from a stop and slim chance it is easier to lauch an E then the GT and most street races are won or lost at the launch. Like I said at high speeds the GT would walk away.

Ford GT hit's 60 MPH in around 3.5 seconds.... even with a bad driver, you should still get smoked pretty good....

Ford GT with a pulley swap which raises the boost by 2-3 psi and an exhaust system puts the car at 612whp, and that was recorded on a very low/conservative dyno, usually it reads 25hp less than the norm.
