saw no AMGs in Europe over last 2 weeks.

just got back from Spain, Zurich, and Prague and saw only 1 AMG car the entire time I was there. I was expecting to see some in Zurich but nada. It was weird but only saw a CLS55, 2 Ferraris, and few 911 cabs. I was hoping to see more on the pay roads in N. Spain near the beach blow by my little Renault that got the best gas mileage of any car I have ever driven. We drove 1500km and only filled the gas tank once. For awhile i was scared the gauge was broken because the needle was not moving.

Yeah, AMGs are pretty rare in Europe! But I would have thought that
you would see more in Zurich and Prague. When I was in Prague last
year I saw some AMGs Bentleys and Maseratis.

Did you drive between the destinations or took the plane?

I am currently in Monaco and there are lots of AMG cars... including several 65's. Unfortunately, in Monte Carlo there are so many crazy cars that the only ones that stood out were a Maserati MC12 parked on Avenue Princess Grace and an F40.

Have a drink on the champs Elysée in Paris and in 10 minutes you'll see
10 ferraries
50 new S class
50 porsches
but very few AMG's 1 or 2 max

In monaco it's different, SAMGF the mercedes dealer in monaco sales 80% of all the AMG's sold in France...

The major Reason's is that in france due to culture it's bad to show that you have some money, so people have classic car for the week and have ferraries or porsches for free time.
If you have a Mercedes AMG on your company, next week tax controll will knok at your door...

Another reason is price of Gas, 75% of french cars are diesel... When I feel up my dad's G55k it cost me 150$USD...

Just think of :

Price of fuel : I believe a factor 3 or 4 compared to US
Luxury taxes : exemple : 6000 $ in Belgium for a sports car, I believe Scandinavian countries charge even more.

Europe governments are mostly anti car.

It's an interesting misconception Americans have about European roads. You would think that since they make the damn things, they would be littering the streets with high-end machinery. The irony is all you see is the low-end diesel versions we dont get in the States.

i understand that the diesel is king over there but was just missing my car and was hoping to see some representation. I did not expect high end cars to be littered all over the streets as the prices of cars and homes is off the hook compared to what the average person makes over there. In fact they are probably smarter driving the diesel counterpart around town that gets great gas mileage, has gobs of torque, and will last forever.
I was at the Harley dealership there while i was waiting to meet up with a friend and my bike new there was 23K Euros while mine new is $17K here in the states.
It is crazy how prices there have gone nuts with the Euro. I miss the old days of Spain and the peseta where you could get a beer for .50 US and a great dinner for less than $30.

Part of the reason that you don't see as many AMGs in Europe as in the US is due to weather/snow. For this reason many people over there prefer Audi (due to Quattro). Especially in Switzerland, where many people use their cars in the winter to go to places like Gstaad or St. Moritz, the Audi is a much more popular choice.

Also remember that 20% of all AMGs are sold in California.
