congrats on getting a 996TT X50, even with the new Turbos out, the 996TT does not look dated at all.

Hey Roy, be straight up with us. Is it even close? The acceleration of the 55 compared to the mighty X50.

Just kinda wondering.

Enjoy the monster.

i loved the 55. special car.
i was the only one that drove it, my wife was too nervous. we never used it as a hauler ( enter toyota landcruiser). i was commuting in a 4 door car and missed the " sports car" feel. since it was only me why not go for the used porsche. prices are great. never really used it as a DD although i did put 12,000 miles on it in 1.3 yrs.
i will be back though. also got a little bummed with all the recalls. took it in for one recall then get another letter 1 week later.
boyhood dream was turbo, so why not. the car is stunnning. polar silver with boxster red interior, lots of carbon fiber and black deviating carpet.

pics of the new porsche would be nice

my purchase was actually a toss up between a brand new 55, and a 2002 996 TurboS with 8000kms on it, for just a bit cheaper than the merc. Got the merc for the plush interior and practicality, but i still think id be happy with either! Next car will be the turbo porsche, also a childhood dream!

Congrats dude, hope you enjoy the P. I think the Turbo is a dream car to many of our generation. I'm trying to hang on to the E, but I am really itching for a true Sports ride, too.

Enjoy!!

Congrats, I picked up my 996TT several years ago and still love it this very day! Its nice to have the best of both worlds with a super luxo cruiser like the E55 and the TT.

I went the opposite way, made the mistake of driving an SL55 after driving an '01 911T for a year.
The luxury ride of the SL made me take notice.

Decided on the CL.

One BIG difference is, I drove much more aggressively with the 911. I was always on the watch for the moment when I could let it rip.

Now I'm much more sedate, even though the CL is a hair faster than the 911.

The low noise level and smooth ride of the MB's can be seductive after getting pounded in a high noise environment for a while. The concrete highways in DFW are not friendly (noise wise) to the Porsche. Nonetheless, it's a tremendous car that brought pleasure to driving everyday.
