I really like BMW's products and will buy another one someday but I cant wait to line up against my buddy's new M5.He's not really a car guy so I doubt he will even have a clue how to get that thing down the road.

that's so stupid, what happens when an e55 pulls up next to you and your on normal drive mode! you loose that's what... aaaah but but but beware when all setting are on high and the e55 may have some problems keeping up with that v10.

This was my biggest gripe, I drove one and the smg jerked me all around LA, guess I am just a "bad" driver..I just like stepping on the pedal and getting thrown back in the seat.

Not defending the M5 (perish the thought!) - BUT some if not all of the sequence of changes they went through there can be programmed once into the "M" (or is it "P") button some where. So with one button push you basically have it mostly sorted.
Then again I may be mistaken. For launch control I think you need to manually select the SMG7 setting (or something) and then push the gear level one way or another ... and dont think this can be mapped into the "button".
So even with all the programming done - its at least a 3 card trick - correct me if I am wrong anyone.
When I saw that episode I quitely laughed to myself for some time. BTW that was the episode when the 997S kicked the M6's butt as well as the Aston AMV8 over about a 2 mile section of winding damp/wet road.
I have to say I do prefer the binary "into orbit" / "not into orbit" stance of the E55's load pedal.

On my moms LS430 you have to flip a few switches to make it super fast.
You have to go from D to S with the gear shifter.
You gotta flick the Power switch.
You also have to press the Sport switch for the suspension.

I think the one foot trick is best - foot off brake and mash throttle!
Much easier to remember.

Oh please. Top Gear is so biased. He harped on and on about the M button in the M5 review, but forgot about it in the M6 review? WTF?
Took me 10 seconds to program M5's M Button. This needs to be done one time only and then never again.
After that just press M and there you go. Real hard.
If you wanna use LC, simply press M, push the gearlever forward and stand on the gas. When the light goes green, release the gearlever. Reeeeeal hard.
Just about as much effort as slotting the AMG into Sport and powerbraking it off the line. In fact both are rediculously easy.

Maybe I should become an activist :p
