custom exhaust options

i'll bite the bullet for the price of headers, but i can't justify 12 grand for an entire exhaust system and i refuse to believe that performance mufflers or cats for an e55 are so much more advanced than those for a 500hp ford mustang (or whatever) that they should cost 10 times the price.

so...if one were to have the resources to build their own exhaust, which components would you choose?

Send an e-mail to BBtriflo and ask them. I sent them an e-mail the other day and so did Griffin337. If enough people show interest they might make one.

This was the reply i got from Billy Boat:

"We don't offer a system for the E55 MB and don't anticipate expanding
the Mercedes line before this coming winter. Thank you for your inquiry."

Maybe if they get enough emails they will make us something.. Or they might end up hating us for blowing up their email...

If they make one for the Sl500, I don't see a reason why they can't build one for our cars. I mean they made one for my CTS-V and I think there are more E55 buyers out there than CTS_V.

Is there anyway to mod the sl exhaust to work on our cars? Has anyone looked into this?? Maybe just add the mufflers??

20+ to list......
I would expect the SL system is a bit different from ours, not to mention the difference in length. Not impossible to do, but given the different bends in piping and length wise, it's better to have a made system installed on your car. If you insist on having yours fabricated, do it in titanium, weight savings is another adavantege in titanium.

i appreciate the help but this thread got off topic quickly. as i said, i'm not looking for someone else's system, i was looking for component (cats/mufflers) recommendations.

as far as building the system, i'll probably go with ss. titanium actually has poor thermal qualities and is not the best choice for exhaust systems. even ti's weight savings is not that substantial when compared to inconel steel, which is what i would use if i wanted the best.
