i doubt youll be disappointed, especially if your e55 was stock. I think stock for stock, the 63 with 7spd and paddles will be more fun than the 5 torquey gears and toggle switches.

But then theres the look of the 63. Is it just me or do the new update rear tail lights simply look *****!?

i feel the same way, although i haven't pulled the trigger on mods yet;i see a quaife differential and renntech ecu/pulley here in the near future.plus the dash instrument cluster background color looks waay better in the e55 than the new one they have in the e63;but i would however like to have the new braking set-up .i only have 4,200 miles on mine and i've had it now for a year and a half,i'm just starting to have more time to actually enjoy it and after my recent M5 kill i am even more inclined to keep it.why sell and take a huge hit when i can take half the money i would eat and get the mods.

Go for the Renntech ECU/Pulley, I loved it on my E...save your money on the LSD and get something else...was totally useless on my CL55 in terms of speed. The MB ESP does well enough...Derek on this forum can chime in. He has or had a Evo Stage 2 and was lighting up the track with 11.6 runs, no LSD. Spero had K2 with LSD and best he got was 11.8 I believe.

i'm more concerned with the constant esp interruption when turning onto the highway and accellerating, unless the car is pointed straight it is almost impossible to modulate the throttle when turning to avoid esp activation.can anyone verify that the lsd will help alleviate this issue as well as even straightline accelleration?if esp will react less often then i will purchase one but i don't care about track times or getting stickier tires as the 20" ones i have are what i run wherever and whenever.i don't track my car and numbers are just numbers to me.

The LSD will help immensely in all around driving. Some argue that it is not needed in a straight line drag, but others of us actually drive the cars.

Will mostly help on the road - in straight line there should be no difference.

Mostly effective when balance of the car is off centre under power ... i.e. out of corners. Power can be applied earlier with a more stability - and - less ESP intervention ... unless you get silly with the loud pedal.

I dont see any benefit at the strip but big gains round a trak on the road. It should have been standard ont hsi car...

Quaife make the best unit - they are around $1700 but a bit of a pain to fit -whole pumpkin has to come out. They are a variable LSD i.e. lockup is from 0-100%. Ah also has lifetime waranty !!!!

Some calmping type LSD's have a preset lock up 30-60 % being typical but these can wear out over time and you need to refresh the pressure plates which is a nother costly removal / reinstall of the pumpkin...

I was going to get one but I just cannot find anyone to remove and reinstall the pumkin at a reasonable price and in good time. Stealer wants $950 just for the removal / refitting excluding the diff modification which is another $250 of bench time...

I don't think that you'll be diappointed with the E63. I can't believe that AMG would make their new engine slower than the 55K, it just wouldn't make sense. The 7G-Tronic should help immensely! Like you said, test drive the car, you'll know if you like it...

I do not remember at any point, where MB has updated a car and gone backwards performance or feature wise.
Usually, those who don't mod their vehicles aren't really interested in these types of forums. Most of us have a need for more speed and performance. Further, when you pay that kind of money for an AMG, you don't, at least I don't want to have just another AMG. I want it to be special. And special it is!

Not true. I've heard the new E63s would be way quicker through the gears than the 55K.

But that's a 'he said she said' fact.

Way quicker? Hmmm, you mind slipping the source of that "info"?

Hey Bro,

Long time no talk??? At last report, my car hit 11.3 after the TB was installed. Spoke to the new owner on my last visit to Atlanta.

Hope the family is doing well! Call me

I got really lucky. Put down a deposit a couple of months ago thinking it would be about 2 years. Got a call from the dealer 2 weeks later over Memorial Day weekend saying he got awarded an extra allocation and no one on the list was in town or answering their phones. It is an August build, Sept/Oct deliver. Guards red with black int, 6spd, LSD, Sport Chrono, short shift, sport steering wheel, adaptive seats. My wife is going to track it.
