Exclamation **NEW PICS** AMG Kit with Exhaust, 19” Modulare Wheels, Lowered etc…

**repost from the W211 forum, figured you guys (and a few gals) would enjoy the pics as well**
__________________________________________________ _______________

So here’s the finished product with the 19” Modulare Wheels and the full AMG kit / As some of you read in my last post on this subject, the original goal was an AMG Sport look with dual single tipped exhausts but once the Sport bumper was fitted (Evosport) we realized that there wasn’t enough room between the factory non-amg mufflers and the back of the bumper to make the bends necessary to make “tips” look just right. So at that point I was faced with having to source AMG mufflers and in the end, ended up with a set of quads in that they were a lot easier to find vs. the dual singles. I bought the black plastic lower bumper piece (between the tips) to use as a template to make the cuts necessary on the AMG Sport bumper to fit the larger tips. And in that that black piece of plastic has an “inner lip” to it you would never know that the bumper had been cut.

While I struggle a bit with the fact that the car is basically, at least from the outside, a dead ringer (make that copy) of an E55 (sans the brakes) …I can’t argue with the results…the car is stunning and I love it!

Hope you enjoy the pics

Chris

Drives Slowly
Damn, an E350 that looks like an E55. I guess I am flattered but why not just get the real thing. Does it really cost that much more? When you consider the cost of all your modifications, couldn't you have afforded a 2-3 year old E55.

None the less, it looks good but watch out for those Mustang GTs. They can put a hurt-in to ya.

Thank you for the kind words, to your question...I could have bought an E55 when I got this one...but coming off of two BMW 545's that got me into enough trouble (E55 would have been worse) the E350 was a good fit for me...enough power to get me out of trouble but not so much that I am tempted to do stupid things...I'll get another track toy at some point to compliment the W211...but to be honest for my daily commute here in SoCal this car is perfect / There has probably been 4 times over the past year that while driving the E350 I wished it was an E55...but to be honest in all those situations, in retrospect, I would have done dumb things had I had the power that you guys have on tap...given the power (whether on land or water) I use it...this is a nice governor for me

As to the AMG package...it was available on the 350 when I bought this car but not in combination with the airmatic and pano (at least I couldn't find one)...so I went without knowing I would do it at some point / Only difference with that package (visually) on the non-amg cars is dual singles vs quads and slightly smaller side skirts...so this car as it sits isn't too different than how it "could have" rolled off the lot

ps- I hear ya on those mustangs...neighbor has a supercharged Saleen with mods (new body style whatever that is called)....465RWHP...but with only 5k on the clock its going away for a 997TT

Looks great Chris, any chance of it going a little lower? I guess I need to see it in person but from the pics it seems just a bit high. Did Evo get you those wheels too and how much do they weigh?

Beautiful car, sir. The debadging of the rear is gorgeous. Too many punks slap AMG kits on their 320's/350's and have the audacity to stick on a crooked "V8 KOMPRESSOR" badge on their fender as well, glad to see you're not one of them. I personally know of one local gas station manager who owns a CLS350 that he's perpetrating as a CLS55, badges and all, while retaining the stock CLS whees, brakes, ride height, etc.

I was thinking of just straight up challenging him to a race...

that looks gorgeous, nice job!

i hear you on the 350 vs 55. im sure you'll be loving the fuel economy and im sure its far from a slug! Great daily choice.

Pics look real nice too, what camera you use?

Ahh just got it, apart from the obvious de-starring and de-plating, lack of parktronic and headlamp washers! I was wondering the front end looks so much cleaner than mine!

50% LLUMAR all the way around / I asked for the "lightest" they had...you can still see the sport blue tint with this on the windows

You know I've been playing around with the height a bit...for a day or two I had it much lower than what you see in the pics, too low for me, so we brought it up just a bit...it's usually lower than what you see in the pics...I think despite the fact that I had the car on the lowest setting for the pics...the airmatic was "adjusting" itself / I think once I see all the other cars at the HB meet and greet I'll be able to get a better idea of whether or not I'm going to play around with it anymore...for now I like it.

Wheels came from a Modulare dealer in San Diego...forget how much they weigh (I should know better than to post wheel pics without having that info available)...I should know I'll find out and share
