Crossed over to the dark side...(new guy here)

Hi folks,

I'm a recent convert, presently experiencing the absolute corruption coming with 469hp of absolute power.

I've been reading/searching here 24/7 since purchase and look forward to becoming an active member of the community.

An avid racer, I am always up for a dragstrip session or some tracktime at one of the local venues. I hope to see some of you there.

Cheers,

Wayne

PS, 469hp is an understatement, your car probably puts out closer to 490, sir. Mercedes corporate just refuses to admit that the E55 blows the doors off the SL55.

Thanks, guys. The car is black.

No pics yet, I figured that you had seen enough pics of stock E55's. I'll get some up later.

Car was purchased at Bentley Downers Grove, but I'm downtown Chicago.

How was your experience ChiX? Luxury Motors is well known for doing zero reconditioning on their cars and throwing them out on the lot at a low price. Hopefully you got one of the good ones.

Brand-new tires on the rear, well-worn on the front. I wonder why the rears wore slightly before the fronts?

I took it from their shop->to the dealer.

The car was in perfect shape, save the rubber. Pricing was aggressive.
There were several to choose from as well. I unfortunately missed out on the wagon I wanted, shod with BBS wheels. This sedan had nav, rear shade, trunk closer, active/ventilated seating. The only glaring omission from the option list is Parktronic, IMO.

2 questions for the experienced folks:

1) Is retrofitting Parktronic an option?

2)Where would one look for a set of OEM AMG 18's?

Thanks for the help and the welcome.

I do not know the answer for parktronic but tirerack.com has great pricing for our OEM wheel.

I would be up for a track day at Byron, I have not had the opportunity to run this car yet.

ChiX, Steve is the way to go for mods ! Chicago guys....Byron is kind of nasty...still have the same old water box (ruts) you have to back into ! ....a friend of mine put together a day at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove...they just had one last Friday. I think they are going to do another day before the end of summer...If anyone is interested I can look into it..Lots of muscle cars go grudge racing. It would be kind of cool to see a bunch of these cars making passes !

Vader,

If you can get it set up count me in. Do you want to get a couple of runs in though before you install those new goodies you have hidden in your trunk? That way you can get a good before and after.

That's just classic! I think once you've owned the car a while, you will wonder why you ever wondered about the rears going out faster...

HINT: 516lbs of torque makes tires run away screaming in terror...
