If you guys have seen my thread on the $1,500 CF airbox you guys know that I ordered a Renntech airbox to test and validate to see if their claims are true or not.

Once I finished testing the Renntech airbox I intended on selling it on eBay, but, I came up with another idea. Something a little more fun and interesting for the MBWorld members.

After passing this by the management of MBWorld, I was given the green light to go ahead, so I am here to announce it to you guys:

I would like to hold the FIRST EVER MBWORLD ONLINE RAFFLE!!

The airbox cost me $5,100 CDN landed. That works out to $4,500 USD. My thoughts were to sell 45 tickets for $100 each. The raffle would be limited to just the 45 tickets. (Or we could do 90 tickets for $50 each.. depending on the demand)

The idea is not for me to make money doing this.. I just want to recoup the cost of the product itself.

To make everything fair this is what I came up with:

1) The first 45 people to respond to this thread with an acknolwedgement of entry would close the ticket sales.

2) No money would need to be sent in by anyone until I have a firm date on when the Renntech box would be available for me to sell (once I am done testing it). Once I announce the date, all the 45 people would send a Paypal for $100 + 3% paypal fee to me.

3) Within 3 days I would hold an online LIVE web multicast. I would take each of the entry names and put them into a drum and pull out 3 semi-finalist names. Then, those 3 names would be shown and put back into another drum.. Out of those 3 names the 1 winner would be selected. (I may even get a nice looking hostess to do the drawings)..

All of this would occur on a live webcast so that everyone could join in and watch the live drawing and to ensure everyone that it is a fair deal.

The winner of the draw would then send me his/her address and I will ship the Renntech CF Airbox at my expense to them!!!!

How does that sound to you guys???

Let's hear the feedback...

Well.. Actually, anyone on MBWorld in any section can enter if they want..

Heck, the winner will end up with a $4500 airbox that he/she purchased for $100. They can easily resell it to someone else if it doesnt fit their particular car.

The only criteria is that the person has to be an MBWorld member to participate.

Dollar amount corrected by unknown moderator to keep questions of validity at bay.

If I win but your testing shows a 0 hp increase, can I trade it out for a new carbon-fiber VRUS air-box?

Dave,

You know.. I am really starting to like you!! You make me chuckle whenever I read your posts... Thanks buddy for the daily pick-me-ups!

P.S-> You can upgrade to the VRP airbox whenever you want!!

Yup! A member can purchase as many tickets as he/she wants.. Just reply to this thread with # of tickets you want that way I can keep track of how much money has been raised.

Maybe, if it's ok with the MBWorld management, if the # of tickets and/or demand exceeds the target price of $4,500 we can take any extra money raised and re-invest it into another R&D project or something else...

Who knows.. If you guys come up with anything imaginative, let me know and I'll pass it by the Mods to make sure everything is AOK with them. Let's try and do something fun every once in a while... It keeps things interesting around here.

Sorry.. Didnt mean the word "Member" as a literal status of your account.. I just meant that the person had an account on MBWorld and they could post..

If you can reply to this thread, you are considered a member by me.

Hi Shaun,

I dont believe it does.. I think it only fits the E55 or the SL55.. Maybe you can email Renntech and ask them?

Hey if you win, you could even keep it and use it as motivation to get yourself an E55 so I can really be a bad influence on you and make you go mod crazy. All the friends I hang out with say I'm a bad influence... Me??? Nahh...

I'm in

By the way, since we are sort of supporting the cause, do the losers of the raffle at least get a discount over the 2nd rounders?

Vic, you have no idea how much I would mod this car only if I had money. lol

If I had the cash, I would SO drop a 55K motor into the S430. And then leave the S430 badges on.

That's happened in my dream several times, but, oh well.

Jangy,

Heheh.. I was thinking of something like that for an incentive..

I'll do my best to help out. That's all I can promise at this stage.

Look at it this way, if you win.. You can sell whichever one you dont like and keep the better one.

I've seen a few 2003 E55 going for low $50K... Save those pennies.. When you are ready just trade in the S430 for the E55.. Will be cheaper than trying to drop a E55 motor into it.
