I have seen them mounted on the package shelf behind the rear seats, and a real stealthy install under the vents on the hood in front of the wipers.

Not the best pics but I have had mine mounted here for over 2 years with no issues. It stays out of view with the TeleAid antenna and the black roof.

mount it under the hood vents it works great and you can't see it. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Mine is on the roof. I added it to my '05 and moved it from the front (by the wipers) to the trunk because I lost all reception. be careful where you choose as it will affect the reception. The compromise is how much signal you willing to give up to gain looks? I HATED the old one turning off on EVERY overpass!! The '06 rarely does it. It may be the install, or the position, dunno. My guess is that it is the position, but i'm also glad it was not added at my stealer.

Antenna Location

I've got mine on 3 different locations on 3 different cars. In order of best to worst reception.
1. Rear Deck Lid (E55)
2. Rear Roof Mount (E55)
3. Under front hood grill (SL500)

#1 uses Roady II unit
#2 and # 3 use MyFy unit

Whether it's the difference in antenna location or radio units I can't be sure, but there is no doubt in the quality of reception.

I originally had mine mounted on the deck behind the back seats inside the rear window. TERRIBLE reception, always cutting out, especially after I got my tint. I had it switched to the trunk lid. I have one of the newer, very small (about 1/2 the size and thickness of my V600 phone, as a comprison) antenna, color-matched to my paint. It really doesn't bother me too much seeing it there - its not one of those huge black ones that they had a couple years ago.

In front of the Tele-Aid antenna would have been better, but for some reason the dealership said they couldn't put it there.

Where are they mounted in the '06 and '07 models?

I wonder why they can't just integrate it into the Tele-Aid antenna!

One of the aftermarket guys has one incorporated into a rear spoiler. It's been mentioned in this forum before. You might search or if anyone remembers chime in.

Ok here are some pictures. I took a piece of aluminum drilled a hole in each corner, painted it flat black and stuck the antenna to it. I purchased the antenna, Sirius brand, at my local stereo shop, I did have to change the connector on the end to match the benz unit but it was no big deal. I zip tied it to the underside of the hood vent grill and when the hood is closed it sits pretty much level. The reception is good it does go off for a second now and then but I prefer that to a hole in my trunk. I ran the antenna wire with the windshield washer hose through the passenger side firewall and back to the trunk.
