Uh huh.....you KNOW you're loving this idea. Spray it right on the front of the intercooler radiator.

Touche. But that's still not as bad as deliberately dumping refrigerant into the atmosphere!!!

R-134a does not affect the ozone layer like the R-12 it replaced.

What I don't get is how this can be effective. If you do it manually, by the time you spray the IC heat exchanger and then jump into the car to race, the cooled water has already passed through the IC.

If you can set it up to spray remotely, it's still not the same as spraying an air-to-air IC. With an air-to-water heat exchanger, there is a lot more mass to cool due to the cooling fluid. It won't be as effective as spraying the actual air-to-air IC, which actually cools the intake charge.

Then there's the cost factor of using refrigerant . . .

And that, friends, is exactly why I have a trusted mechanic...

E55 AMG + Mustang GT
You can easily make your own intercooler sprayer (spray whatever you wish, but I highly recommend CO2) for less than $50. All of the parts can be found at a local Lowe's or any other hardware store. You can then spray from the inside of the car whenever you wish, rather than running outside and spraying the intercooler everytime you're at a stoplight and ready to race someone.
