This is my thought on it. The gullwing is supposed to come in 2011 with a initial rating of 750hp and later with a rating of a 1000 plus. All the time using different modified versions of the 63 motor (this engine seems to have a lot more potential then people seem to give it). Well the current SLR uses a different modified version of the 55K motor and that puts out 617hp. That's a big jump from what the 55k motor in the sl/cl/s/e/cls all put out. On top of which the SLR came out a few years after the 55k motor had been put in all these models. So I see a main stream amg 63tt very likely. Possibly as soon as 2008 for the s/sl/cl and 2009 or 2010 for e/cls/gl/g. I'm guessing the power rating will be somewhere between 600-650hp to keep it under the gullwing and the 65tt line will probably get a jump in power to around 700hp to keep it above the 63tt. This is just my opinion, but it seems to make sense.

hmmm a trickle up effect. this is the first example that makes me consider the possibility of an earlier tt model. good post.

Thanks. Something I'm wondering though is once Mercedes tt the 63 motor for there general line up where do they go from there? Will they continue to just keep adding more power to these cars? Because lets face it once you get to a 1000 plus hp your getting a little excessive for the street.

They're just going to keep coming out with better rubber/better suspensions to handle more power. Right now the point of diminishing returns for street cars really depends on power to weight ratios and the amount of low end torque it has. You see E55's light the tires off the line but the E63 seems to have more traction as it has less low end torque/ more hp.

I'd say the limit for most street cars before you start getting into the completely fugging nuts category is 650-700 depending on weight. AWD eliminates most traction issues, and you see more and more performance-viable AWD systems out there. Wait for the new GTR, that thing is going to be a modder's DREAM.

Yessir. The spec sheet so far is a 3.6 liter twin turbo V6 putting out around 500hp/500lbs, and a next gen ATTESSA system. Its basically going to scream all over everything, stock. Then with a chip, downpipes, upgraded snails, fugggetaboutit.

So how fast of a 1/4 are we talking about at that point?

They're talking about putting a 7 speed tranny in it, and with the proper gearing I'd say we're talking 997TT numbers easy, before mods. Carlos Ghosn does not mess about, and he has been quoted as saying that the new GTR will set the standard for performance cars. The kicker is the speculated base price of 70-75K.

R35 GT-R, EvoX
I wonder if this GT-R will have the same mystique as the ones in the past. If they make it like they should, we should be seeing some modded GT-R's making 800hp+ easily. I remember they had a 1000+hp GTR at AI Design. It was probably the most insane car I have ever seen. Sounded scary too. With the all wheel drive and twin turbo setup, this new GT-R should be an AMAZING car. I just hope it stays exclusive, can't have too many 1000hp cars running around on the streets. But the GT-R is definitely on my to get list.

I am positive that they are working on bi-turbo motors.

I am also positive that neither we nor they yet know what these new engines will end up in....

And all this you see here is hoping, and wishful-thinking-discussion, IMHO -- and there's nothing wrong with a bunch of enthusiasts doing just that!

I wonder what AMG/Mercedes could do with TT 6.3L, I am thinking along the line of 600hp+ AMG's in the future, and the 65s would be xx70 AMG. It would be crazy, BMW will **** its pants. lolz Kind of like the war between Mitsubishi and Subaru with the Evolutions and STi's.

BMW's ///M division refuses to evolve and go with F/I solutions for power, so they're getting killed as far as torque and hp figures go. Their "purist" standpoint is really what's hindering them from competing in any way with F/I Mercs in a straight line. Sad, really. Hopefully the new turbocharged 335's will jumpstart a revolution at BMW so there can actually be some competition when the 63tt comes out, otherwise BMW is going to get eaten by Nissan AND Merc.

As far as rumors spread on bimmers boards, the new 335i I-6 TT engine has a lot of potential. Some even said that with an ECU upgrade alone, the car will have E46 M3's power. True or not, turbo'd cars are always fun.

I don't doubt it. Tuners will definitely have it well beyond the new M3's power by the time it comes out and the debaucle will begin.

The crazy thing about that TT 335i is that the engine blck is aluminum and the motor is rumored to have 10.0:1 compression. I don't know if you can go to crazy with boost using that much compression in an aluminum blck.If it was 9 to 1 like the F/I AMG's fine but 10.0:1,WOW! I hope it will still have alot of potential.
