Does Anyone Feel Cheated By Mbz?
After reading that the 2007 SL55 comes with 510hp and 531ftlbs of torque!
I feel like they have cheated all of the 55 owners the last 4yrs. WTF!
Does anyone know what the MAJOR differences are between that motor and ours??????

I would feel cheated if I bought an 07 S55 and it had the same output as an older E55 !!

The only time I feel cheated is when I go to the MB dealer and they bend me over the service counter and they screw me without lube.![mercy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/mecry.gif)

This has been discussed in numerous threads in different forums. Based on their press release, they're spinning the S/C faster, using a larger throttle body, and tweaking the ECU. Nothing major - just small adjustments.

Out Of Control!!
I suppose that using that logic, anyone who bought anything in the past ought to be chapped off because the new stuff is newer and better. Now I am really pissed that I bought a new 1950 ford flathead V8.

I have read in a couple of places that it is a different Kompressor. One of the magazines has a picture at AMG of the Kompressor with a tag on it that showed that it was the higher output model.
My vote is for upgraded Kompressor and ECU tune......
I also have to say that all this talk that MB is flashing ECU's so that the E63 will be faster than the E55 are dreaming......
Can you imagine the lawsuit that MB would be in if they were caught doing something like this? I just don't see it happening.
With that said, I don't doubt that they are making changes to the ECU's and that may make it more difficult for us to tune them. I look for Kleemann and Renntech to fix this for us. I don't think that it is MB's responsibility to test that all the tuning software works with their ECU upgrades.

From my notes on the new MY2007 SL55:
....The SL 55, on the other hand, will receive a few more enhancements, including a higher-speed supercharger compressor and a larger throttle valve. The result is a power boost from 368 kW/500 hp to 380 kW/517 hp and an increase in peak torque from 700 to 720 Nm....
....The enhanced AMG 5.5-litre V8 supercharged engine at the heart of the SL 55 AMG is equipped with a new, higher-speed supercharger compressor and a larger throttle valve to optimise the fresh-air supply. In addition, the installation of an even more efficient engine management unit has boosted the output of the AMG V8 powerplant from 368 kW/500 hp to 380 kW/517 hp, while the peak torque has been increased from 700 to 720 Nm....

The electronic engine management now features cylinder-selective pilot control of the firing angle: this function sets the optimum combustion point individually for each cylinder, resulting in a further improvement in the efficiency of the AMG V8 engine....
The SL 55 AMG Facelift
....Technology:
-Uprated AMG 5.5-litre V8 supercharged engine with an output of 380 kW/517 hp and a peak torque of 720 Nm
-AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission with new torque converter
-Steering with more direct ratio, including new valve control logic and modified elastokinematics at the front axle
-Second-generation ABC
-New AMG high-performance composite brakes at the front wheels....
Quite a few changes, I think -- and all good.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Now the question is - in this E55 forum - what of these were also done on the MY2006 E55 -- and on the new MY2007 E63?

I only feel cheated on the price I paid for my 2007 SL55 with 030 Performance Package.
I didnt have the chance to really feel its power last week when driving it...still under the 1000 mile break in period.

No reason to feel cheated just because AMG boosted the output of the 2007 SL55. If you envy the new model's increased HP & TQ, it is easy enough to raise your 55K to that level or significantly beyond with one of the aftermarket solutions. While this isn't cheap to do, remember how much less expensive the AMG CLS55 & E55 are compared with the SL55.
Now I would feel cheated if I just bought a 2006 CLS500 or E500, and the 2007 model has basically has the same MSRP yet with 25% more HP & TQ without any hit in fuel economy
The CLS550 & E550 may be great platforms for bolt-on superchargers, time will tell...
