Hey, I should have added there was an E63 there that they were testing against an E55 (we couldn't drive or even ogle the E63). Rumors were they were similar in the 1/4mi with the 63 pulling a slightly higher trap speed.

Yeah, I saw it and looked it over. It had California Plates and was "sorta" parked out of the way.

We started out Saturday on the road course and the E63 was sort of between the pits and the autocross course in front of that small building. When we headed over to the autocross, it was gone 
Later in the afternoon, there was and E55 with manufacturer plates in its place. Late in the day both were up against that little building again.
One of the guys in my group had just taken delivery of an E63 and had turned in an 05 E55. He was still breaking in the E63 so didn't have any real comparison yet. I will say the CLS63 sure didn't feel slow coming out of the corners. It just pulled and pulled. One thing I noticed as the cars whipped by during the hotlaps is how much better the 63 sounds than the 55.

The CLK63 and CLS63 have much deeper and richer sounds than there 55 counterparts.
The SLK55 had the best sound though.....MEAN sounding.
The 63 motor had a smoother band vs. the 55 motor. Both pulled, but the 63 did not have the spike of the supercharger.
The CLS63 was smooth considering it's size. It impressed me the most. I took my Pro Hot Lap in it. The SL55 was the least impressive (runs, hides, and puts on flame suit)

I agree....the 63 sounds much better than the 55, at idle and speed. All the cars seemed to pull from the corners. However, I got my best top speed in the E55 at 108 down that straight!

2006 E55
Hi guys, I attended the Challenge on Saturday and also had an incredible time. I was on the white team (winner of the autocross) and yes we did have one less person. But being all class, they made one person go twice. We had two young ladies go back to back and one of them went twice - they were great at the pit stops and they were fast!
Also, I wanted to pass on a data point. I talked to the MB sponsor rep - I believe is name is Robert and asked him about the E63 vs the E55. He stated that while we were having breakfast, they ran about 15 1/4 mile runs between the two cars. I point blank asked him on the 1/4 mile times and he stated 12.6 for the E55 and 12.9 for the E63. He did not elaborate on if they were best/typical/average. He did say the E63 was moving up on the E55 at the end. Again, please just take this as one data point.
