I lost 70 RWHP, Where!

Here is what happened. I had a dyno done on a Dyno Dynamics on 6-20-06, the rwhp was 430. A/F = 10.5/1. I have a K2 and this was the 4th program from Kleemann. Cory said he would reprogram my ECU to get close to 12/1.
I installed the new reprogramed ECU drove it about 1000 miles then brought it into the shop for another dyno. Before the dyno I figured I would have PTE's 160 thermostat put in to get more consitent dynos.

After the car was put back together and Dynoed I now have 360 rwhp! THe ECU was sent back to Cory and he said everything is fine. My IAT is about 150F at WOT and the engine temp is is about 80 to 85C. The SC is kicking on and shows boost on a tapped in gauge. Cory says the boost pressure is good for the location of the tap. THere are no error messages anywhere and the car runs fine, just slower. On all the pulls we have done the boost is not consistent and the AF is not consistent.

I did have the reflash for the secondary airpump on 5-25-06, one month before the 430rwhp dyno. So basically the chain of events are:

5-25-06.... MB airpump flash
6-20-06.... 430 rwhp dyno
6-30-06.... new Kleemann program and drive 1000 miles
9-13-06.... 160 thermostat installed and 360 rwhp dyno

Where's my power? Any ideas? This totally sucks!
Thanks for ANY input!

Can you post your dyno plots? Both of them.

I would say the intercooler pump. My first dyno was at 360rwhp and did what you are describing.

I can't attach images here, is anyone else restricted? I used to be able to.
Anyway follow this link to the latest dyno with low power. There are four graphs:
1....Torque
2....RWHP
3....A/F Miture
4....Boost Pressure

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/seabee...pdBhFBwygyqbgp

Right now I am unable to get the original dyno.

Here are the plots:

Torque is way down and the curve looks a little unusual - until you look at the boost curve. The dip in boost centered at 3500 RPM is causing the first part of the curve to be down from the plateau that is usually there. I'm not sure why Cory thinks the boost level looks OK. A K2 should be in the 12-14 psi range. Where is the tap located? A/R ratio looks good, although I would add a little fuel between 3100 and 4500 RPM. Based on what I see here, I would say that your low power numbers are boost related - it looks like you're bleeding somewhere. Or possibly belt slippage.

I second boost bleed - wouldn't a slipping belt show a pig-rich AFR?

Here's a link showing where my boost tap is. The location was recommended by Cory. It is before the intakes and after the SC. Apparently the IC reduces boost enough to where the readings I have Cory says is normal, not low.

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/seabee...h1chFBVzukSdrE

The tap is the T shape fitting on the brass piece. So far no knows what the heck is wrong with my car.

Supposedly the boost pressure is good and the IAT are fine so the IC pump seems good.

Did you ever find out what went wrong with your car?

Not yet. My Dealer and Speed shop have no idea except for the airpump recall flash that was done. My Dealer admits there have been some E55 effected by it with a loss of power. They don;t have a fix and have asked MB for a solution. Nothing to date. The car has been checked over for mechanical issues, nothing found.

Cory at Kleemann emailed me totay saying he thinks they have a program that will give me my power back. I have to send my ECU to him.

Unfortunalty my drive shaft bearing going into the diff has gone bad and I'm trying to get that worked out also. When I have both the new ECU program and new diff I'll have it dynoed and post the results.

...........partially correct. .

.........both the new and old Kleemann programs are not compatible with his MB flash software. Even his 430RWHP is low for a K2 car because after flash, his ECU pulls timming and dumps fuel (hence the 10.5:1 a/f ratio) when it detects high engine boost. More aggressive aftermarket software will probably not work until Mb flash program is removed and his ECU returned to pre-flash state. Alternatively, he can have the Kleemann old and new programs removed and return his car to the 430RWHP and 10.5:1 a/f ratio and leave with that. He may experience stalling occassional at WOT when ECU suddenly pulls timming.

Ted
