Pics, new tires, DFWDude emblem and post-flash 55K thoughts

With 13k miles, my stock Contis were toast. Down past the wear bars and anything more than a light touch on the throttle produced wheelspin. I decided to try something different and ordered up a pair of Nitto 555R for the back, 285/35 18s.

Although the size is a little bigger than the stock 265/35 18 Contis, the real measurements (as provided by the manufacturers) are very close. The Nittos end up being just slightly taller by about 1/2". Fit is great, didn't notice any add'l noise over the Contis and the Nittos drive just like any other high performance summer tire on the twisty road where I live. I didn't get a chance to get any heat in them, hammering the car from a dig just produced smoke on the street.

I also received my DFWDude white emblem for the hood. It looks great (pics below)!

I hope to provide more information about 55k ECU dealer flash, as we're hitting the track tomorrow for a private day. If previous days are any indication, the track should be hooking like a $2 ***** Previous track days have resulted in a 12.20 and 12.16 best times for my car (on the stock Contis) before the dealer recall ECU reflash.

Now some pics...

It takes longer to open the driver's door and pull the hood latch than it does to swap the emblem

I ran the 555R's on my Vette year-round, all types of weather, never any problems - you shouldn't have any hassles. Not the greatest DR at the strip, but should certainly be an improvement over the stock Conti's.

Very interested in your post-flash times tomorrow . . .

Jrocket/Beowulf - the weather will dictate what I run. I was pretty consistent on my Contis, so I hope the DRs will give me a little more hook and retain the same consistency. It should be obvious if the 'flash' issue is really an issue with my car.

2K6E55 - I'm about 15mins N of Rockville, if you take 270N.

Drives Slowly
Wayne,
Thumbs-up for both mods. A flat hood emblem is a must for the E. Also, 20mm of extra width does wonders for an aggressive stance. I only wish I had 20 extra mm of girth.

Looks good. One emblem and one roof and we would have twins. I might take care of the emblem soon. My stock one would not come off the last time MB-BOB and I tried. I guess I need to find some channel locks or a pipe wrench and try again.
