I work with a bunch of AMG TOOLS...3 E55s, 1 E63, 2 CLS55s, 1 SL65, 1 S65, and a CLS63 on order...all bow down to the BEAST! Until AMG starts to tweek the whole package MB will always take the backseat to any BMW M cars. Z4 M coupe over the SLK55, M3 over the CLK55, M5 over the E55, E63, CLS55, CLS 63 and M6 over the SL55, SL63, CL55 65,66,67 whatever the hell and anything else AMG wants to throw a big motor in...NO COMPARISON AT ALL!! It is the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE! There is my $.02...PEACEIMOUTTAHERE!!

Yeah there are a bunch of guys like that on every forum.

I say let them be that way and take show them the LED tails and the AMG emblem on your E55...unless it is a M6 and you are racing on the freeway. But thats what Kleemann is for haha.

Reading through the whole thread, with the above exception, I was impressed at what seemed to be generally honest assessments of the MB vs BMW cars. I would have expected very strong pro-BMW bias throughout this thread on the BMW board.

That was funny, but he forgot to put that the ML63 is faster than the X5 4.8iS. Anyway, my opinion about the M5 vs. E63 is this, if you want a comfortable car that hauls *** and for everyday use, E63 is definitely the choice; on the other hand, if you autocross & track alot, and don't mind revving the crap out of the motor and stay above 6k rpm, M5's obvious. As someone on the e60 forum had put it, AMG's are fast and serious cars, but the M's are drivers' cars.

That's pretty much the case. I love my car but I know where it stands as compared to all AMG's. I'm a born car guy, not a BMW, Merc, TVR or Lister guy. A lot of BMW guys know d!ck about anything with four wheels that doesn't have a propeller on the hood.

Then again, I blew out of the Lincoln Tunnel with my boy who has an E55, barreling around the roundabout and weaving in between cars with inches of clearance, and the first thing he said was "I could NEVER, EVER do that in the E55". Steering is one thing I'll definitely claim over an AMG55.

I hear you on that. Steering is too slow.
Someone I know extremely well was driving a 360 Challenge Stradale in a charity rally this Sunday in Toronto, and he was weaving (safely) through traffic at a good clip. No way "he" could have done that in my E55.
