Guys...YOU DONT listen to ME...Personall Experince !!!

ONE MORE TIME :

EURO M5 have more agressive LC (from 4000 RPMS) then US M5's (1800Rpms), therefore they launch much better and FASTer from the STOP then US M5/M6's but the downside of it is that the CLUTCH does not survive much from such abuse...10-12 starts with EURO LC and you need to change the CLUTCH !!!

Without LC stock E55 would pull on stock M5 till 120 !!!

With EURO LC stock M5 will beat stock and stock E55 wont catch up !!!

With just HEADERs on E55 will beat M5 from STOP (without LC) or rolling START till it hits the LIMTER !!! I did this with 2 M5's here...

With EURO LC stock M5 beat ME in 1/4 but I miss launched but I think he would still have a jump on ME and most likely WE could RUN DEAN EVEN...but who knows THIS M5 didnt want to race with ME without LC or Rolling START !!!

With just HEADERs E55 would PULL on Moded Hamann M6 567 HP till 120 then M6 would start to PULL away !!!

With such POWER that K4 should have... IT should BEAT M5/M6 moded not moded, Z06 and so ON...

With other car from dead STOP in 1/4 its all depends how you launch ??? EACH time the OUT could be DIFFERENT!!!

Like I said before.... I beat C6 Z06 and Viper with SS exhauts in 1/4 mile 3 times in a ROW !!! Other time before I LOST to same ZO6...

I am trying to say that EACH TIME it different...there are some results from the race WE had HERE...

Overall sometimes M5 is faster sometimes E55 is faster...but stock vs stock with EURO LC M5 will beat E55 in any race...Without LC E55 would win 1/4 but loose after 120.

Hilarious...

Seriously bro, one of our members said he beats the stock M5s, left and right day in and day out with his K2-- I recall something like 8 cars-- now you mean to tell me a K4 wont do the same?

Right... I think the problem is you BMW fanatics are upset the BMW fell off so quickly (like it was ever on top to begin with ) that you guys will go to extremes for attention.
Don´t make a friggin` fool out of yourself. Grow up.

The outcome of Gustav's video (K4 vs. M6) will clearly show that a K4 from a 30mph roll will power away from a stock M6 to about 125 mph. However, due to the better gearing (7speed gear box) of the M6 it will reel in the K4 from 125 mph to 155 mph (with 2 more gears to go). You would think the slippery (drag coefficient .28?) of the K4 would help at higher speeds against the M6 (cd.32), but it doesn't. Gearing is king in this comparo. M6 wins.

Consider this, a stock E55 runs 0-150 mph in 23 sec. vs. the M6 at 19 sec. Even with similar 1/4 mile times the M6 will pull away considerably after 120 mph. So, even with the additional mods to the K4 it will have to make up 3 seconds to compete with the M6 to 150 mph and from a roll probably 4 seconds (that's a lot).

My question to Gustav is, why did you run a K4 against an M6 instead of the M5? Or did you? If so what was the outcome? I'm sure it was much different. No?

Why doesn't Gustav ever run against the 600 or 65 series bi-turbo V12's in these races?

Because that would be harder for him to make the BMW look like it wins.

no idea

especially considering some of the prices of the other vehicles in the group of cars that they gathered.

But IMHO it doesn't matter those v12s are in another class.

Well done on your wins Dan. I hear Dolan & some other chipped E36's also beat them.

Can you answer the last part of my previous post (M5 vs K4)?

Thank you in advance for your response. I think the answers to these questions will put this "match up" in perspective and appreciated by others on this board.

Keep the videos coming. Very entertaining.

If a K4 lost to an M6 above 125 (According to L8Apex), and a Z06 (while being in the wrong gear) killed a M6 at any speed, how do you figure a K4 would beat a Z06??

K4 won't beat a Z06 folks. We have already seen the video on this site made by one of our members racing his K4 CLS against his Z06 (with exhaust). The C6 drove away.

I agree with you. It would take an E55 600 rwhp to just match the power/weight of the Z06.

A bit of perspective:

Some videos of M5s, to keep things all in perspective:

CLS55 vs. M5: best M5 can do is win by 0.5 lengths/0.02 sec:

CLS55 AMG beats an M5:

M5 @ strip: 12.72 @ 112.86:

M5 runs 13.47 @113.4:

M5 runs 13.126 @ 115.58:

M5 runs 12.574 @ 117.0674:

This one was at Santa Pod Raceway in the UK, i.e. the car had launch control:
M5 runs 12.476 @ 112.45:

Nice times there. BTW the fastest E55 run I ever saw at Santa Pod is 12.89. The track is often very poorly prepared. Doesn't havce traction like US tracks. But if you can google & find a faster E55 time at Santa Pod, feel free to post it.

Here's a US spec M5 (in other words being launched just off idle) running 12.2 @ 116:

They where told that it shoulöd be rolling runs as well as 0-200 km/h timings. More or less like my plans outlined before the event:

Not any other info than was given to the other participants.

I'm sure that, living as you do in South Africa, you spend quite a lot of time at Santa Pod in the UK and have personally witnessed many runs there; after all, it is only 5,600 miles from you. And I'm also sure that you're smart enough to know that the person making the claim is the one responsible for providing the data. YOU claimed that a) the track is poorly prepared, and has poor traction, and b) that the fastest time YOU ever saw an E55 run at Santa Pod was 12.89.

I'd like some proof, because I've busted you in far to many lies on this forum to take anything you say at face value. Do you have any proof for either claim?

Ah, but wait a moment, Sherwin: wasn't it you who was arguing that anyone could easily duplicate the launch technique used by Car & Driver on a US-spec car to match the Euro acceleration times? Answer: yes, it was. So if anyone can duplicate this technique and match the Euro times as you were arguing, then it's rather disengenuous of you to argue that the US launch control hinders the car's times, now isn't it? No matter how often you try, ya can't have it both ways, baby.

So wow, you've got a vid of an M5 running 12.2 @ 116? Bang! As posted earlier: a video of a stock E55 running 12.07 @ @ 116:

Fastest M5 time yet. Much faster than all of the other 12.5's to 12.7's all the other M5's are running. But, you did not bother to read the thread (or conveniently ignored his launch explanation). The car was not "being launched just off idle", as you state. Launching an M5 off idle does not get anywhere near a 1.8 60 foot time. You should know better.

Debate is pretty much over in the US. Stock E55 will beat a stock M5 pretty consistently in the 1/4 mile. Having one guy in an M5 run a great time at Atco does not make the M5 a low 12 second car any more than the 2 bone stock E55's on this board running 11.8's make the E55 an 11 second car. Not to take anything away from that owner's time and skill (Kudos to him), but outliers don't create the norm.

By the way, I guess you decided not to take delivery of an M5? You were number 2 on your dealer list last time you reported on your delivery status.

That's his standard operating procedure: censorship. I've documented this before in a thread entitled "Gustav the hypocrite"; look it up if interested. One time he moved a thread of mine from his "race stories" forum into "off topic", which he said was because the video "had no BMW content".

But there were a few problems with that little canard: for one, before and after he moved it, there were other videos on that forum (and still are, in all likelihood) of non-BMW cars, and here's the kicker: several of those videos were posted by Gustav himself.

He also banned, and threatened to ban, several of our forum members for doing the same thing he does here: come in and discuss cars. He falsely claimed that they had violated his terms of use, but the posts themselves show this to be a lie, and he repeatedly refused to produce any evidence for this false claim.

So why does he get away with this here when he bans our members there? Have a look at his list of sponsors for the obvious answer.

.........This thread looks like the biggest hoopla about nothing since the story of the emperor's new coat. I'm genuinely confused. What is this thread about? Is there actully a video or is one aout to be made? I don't really care if there is or isn't one. I am trying to understand what the thread is about.
