Anyone want to race a M6 in Gainesville tonight?

7Speed is (almost) totally wrong, not only is the M5 unwilling to go into P500 mode during breakin, its also limited in its ability to make power before the 1200 mile service. This is due to the trifecta of 1. the mineral oil they use during breakin 2. the piston ring issue 3. The fact that the ECU is LIMITED from the factory. Put it in P500 before the 1200 mile service and it feels more like P420, they actually check at the dealer to see if you've been attempting to engage it and if you've been overrevving it (all info is transferred to your key). Leaving the stealership after said service I laid a strip 50ft. long while bouncing the needle off redline like a madman.
The piston ring issue does not limit power, does it? I thought it is simply one of the reasons why you want to go "easy" when the car is new.
I always observe the break-in instructions until I leave the dealer's lot.

Its not that the car won't go into P500 mode, it will engage, but the car is noticeably quicker after the 1,200 mile service is done. Piston rings have everything to do with compression, so one can imagine that if they're not quite in place, loss of compression= loss of power.

we're not in the stone age anymore where cars take thousands of miles to break-in because machining tolerances are vague. if loaded properly, rings don't take more than a few miles to seat. if anything is mechanically robbing power within the first few miles of use, it's the transmission.

A Kleemann customer. According to Kleemann he is a pro import driver. Hopefully I can get access to a timeslip or video in the near future. That's amazing though... 10.48 @ 136

He'll probably just get flamed to death and the G-Thugs will keep trying to "call him out", BUT STILL!!!
Maybe he just digs the lurking hero thing.......

LOL, better hope there aren't any corners or brake zones. After you hooking me up with wheels for the Cannonball, I'd let you win anyways.
