Sprint Booster WQQW

I know there have been a few threads about the sprint booster but not too many E55 owners have taken the plunge. Well I just want to report that I just recieve the sprint booster from SLKFANS and WOW. I just had my K1 installed. The throttle response was already great. Nice and linear. But with the sprint booster, geeze luise! The thing rocks. It takes some time to learn how to feather the pedel but nothing we can't learn. For 250 dollars its a no brainer. I highly recommend this thing. The best thing is, if you want to go back to its normal way of driving put it in comfort mode! Took approximately 2 minutes to install. 10 mm torque wrench required.

80 views and no response or reactions? I will be doing a dyno on my k1 mod today or tommorow. I will do 1 run with out the sprint booster and 1 with the sprint booster just to see... I'll keep everyone posted...

Well you know I've got it installed so I second that emotion. Be good to see before and after dyno

i will probably take the plunge too. My guess is this thing would rock for street racing. On the third honk your competition may think you jumped the gun when you didn't!

there's no need to dyno this since this does not increase performance. all it does is recalibrate the throttle position signal being sent.

...or am i confused about what the sprint booster does?

No, you are not confused. The signal from throttle pedal position sensor is interpreted by the ECU, which then commands the TB to open or close to the target position. This device modifies/amplifies the pedal position signal so that the TB opens faster and/or farther than w/o the device. The only way performance could increase is if MB has programmed the TB to not be at wide open position when the pedal is to the floor. This device could possibly fool the ECU into opening the TB all the way. But, MB wouldn't do anything devious like that, would they?

I am going to dyno my car since I just installed K1 so it wouldn't hurt to do a run and then take the SP off and then dyno it again just for ****s and giggles.... If it doesn't add anything or gain anything...4 minutes are lost by taking it off and installing it..... Ill let everyone know!

This all comes down to the dyno.

You could sell these by the dozens if you could honestly show increases in hp by this thing opening the TB all the way (if that was the case)

Otherwise honestly, with near full torque available to us under 2000rpms, just confused as to why we would want to make our launches ever harder than they already are on these things. I heard the "gotta get used to feathering the throttle" comment and immediately was turned off.

Not trying to be a jerk.... promise, just asking an honest question.

On the good side, I could really see these being a big help to the E63 guys as their power comes as that monster revs in higher r's.

Interesting to hear Vadim's comments on this....

Gonna PM him now.

All I can say in addition to what I've already said in my prior posts is that ESP is having a harder time keeping the car under control, which I don't mind. Beyond that, the car is very tractable now once you get used to the more responsive throttle

The more I hear about this GADGET, the more it makes me laugh. The simple way to understand what it does is to compare it to someone taking out a gas pedal and shortening it's travel.

This is all it does.

It does not make more power, it just opens up the throttle quicker. So in essence it is a "lazy man's" throttle pedal. For $250 it does the "work" of stepping on the gas pedal for you.

Most software tuners, Powerchip included, will increase throttle pedal curve to help with how car feels.

From the feedback on this and other forums, it looks like this device goes beyong what the software guys do and simply cuts by 50% and more of pedal travel. While the cars seem to feel quicker, in real life they are not.

Thanks but I don't need it explained to me...it's been explained many times before. I'm just reporting the effects, get it ?

Thanks, but I do not need effects explained to me, I can achieve the same result by reprogramming throttle pedal algorithm, get it?

All one is doing is making your car harder to control by reducing ones ability to modulate the throttle. This is why "ESP" is flashing all the time. You are going WOT at half-pedal travel.

Like I said before - "lazy man's" throttle pedal.

The point is you're repeating the same info available from other posts, so it is not original information, let alone necessarily correct information. On the other hand, since I HAVE used it, I am REPORTING ( a different word from explained BTW) an individual experience that may be useful for others to hear.

Why don't you buy one, you're a sponsor, you must have some bucks I assume to check this out, rather than relying on inference and supposition. Or is it not in your best interests to do so ?

Lets relax guys.... I was just expressing my satisfaction about the sprint booster.. not only does it just keep teh throttle wide open but it keeps the car in the correct gear so it ALWAYS feels stronger..... This is from person experience.. Call the device what you want...to each there own!

I see. Thanks.

According to the dyno, SB is making peak TQ very early in the power band(thus the car felt faster) but it actually loses both TQ/HP throughout the rest of the power band...(Blue vs Red)
