K1 Dyno on E55

Hey everyone as I posted before, I just got my K1 installed onto my 04 E55. I had the ECU done 2 weeks ago and go the pulley installed on wednesday. I dyno'd my car today at noon time.

Green run is my baseline dyno. Yes I know. I have a low powered E55 But what can I do! The blue run is with the sprint booster installed. And the red run is with the sprint booster taken off. I understand that 403 rwhp is low for an K1 E55 BUT I am not dissappointed as my car is MUCH more powerful than stock. I gained almost 50 lbft of torque. I can definately feel the torque through out the power band. I mean the car keeps on pulling and pulling and doesn't stop. My dyno guy said that with the sprint booster the linearity of the throttle past 3/4 felt weird and didn't feel linear.

Baseline dyno- 370 rwhp/410 torque
K1+Sprintbooster - 392 rwhp/464 torque
K1 - 403 rwhp/452 torque

What do you guys think? Let me know your thoughts

Was the car in dyno mode when you made those pulls?

1) See if you can get the numbers corrected for Standard or SAE.

2) Ask if they can apply a smoothing factor of 2 to 4, then see what the numbers are. I think the peakiness of the chart is skewing the absolute #s.

Smoothing factor would help the lines but getting it corrected will drop the numbers even worse, that would make me cry seeing those low numbers.

Depending on the altitude and the weather, the sae numbers can be higher than the uncorrected. With the std correction being even higher.

I think smoothing out the peaks will make the numbers go down...

I am in boston so i am basically at sea level so therefore the SAE corrected numbers will be lower

I agree! But what can we do.... I am loving the new power tho...i dont care what the numbers are... this car pulls like a ****.... the torque numbers are above 450 at the rear wheel... I am very happy about that!

My CLS55 pre-mod dyno (on a Dyno Dynamics) was 372 rwhp. Seems that this is about the norm for cars with the "revised" ECU program addressing the secondary air injection pump problem.

This is also right where the dynos of the 63 cars have been. This is probably not a coincidence, given the nebulous role of the ECU update in fixing a potential emission problem and the timing of the recall with respect to the 63 engine introduction.

Anyway I am more and more pleased with the 478.5rwhp (on same Dyno Dynamics) from my Renntech mods. No doubt some of the 106.5rwhp I gained was related to reversing whatever electronic restraint MB had implemented.

You cannot draw any conclusions wrt torque from these pulls. The pulls were started too high in the RPM range. The actual peak values will be higher. The only conclusion that can be drawn (and I find it kinda interesting, if not odd) is that the Sprintbooster caused a loss of HP. Your power is also dropping off too soon. Your HP peak should be closer to 6100 RPM.

Call the dyno shop and have them email you plots with CF=STD, smoothing=2, and include A/F ratio curves.

If it were my car, I would go back to the dyno and run again, with the pulls starting at 2500 RPM. I would also repeat the Sprintbooster experiment - there's a 15-20 HP delta from yesterday's dyno pull - you really need to verify if that is real or not.

I would also head for the track and verify the dyno numbers with 1/4-mile trap speeds. With 400 whp you should be in the 113-114 mph range, about 4-5 mph short of where a K1 car should be.

BTW, correcting to SAE standards does not always result in reduced numbers. If the temperature was higher than the SAE standard (77 *F), and/or the barometric pressure was lower than the SAE standard (29.235 in-Hg) on the day of the dyno, the corrected numbers will/can be higher.

I was hoping that the Kleeman ECU remapping would solve that whole ECU issue but it didn't. Again I am please with my new found power. Like I said before, it pulls and pulls and seems like it doesn't stop pulling.... either way, I think I am going to find a new dyno guy. Just to see if they corrilate in numbers...

It's sort of strange that the new power blue line shows the same characteristics in the curve as the stock green line. Also at exactly 5.75k rpm the blue and green line coincide with each other, which means you are making the same power, but after that point the blue line takes off again.

Something is not right there....the power should be increased all the way from beginning to end over the green line, and I do agree the power drops off way too soon and too steep. Maybe the car isn't exactly in the dyno mode where traction control is still taking over.

Good point sir. I will drive it for a few more miles and then have it re dyno'd at another place.
