Problem with Kleemann K2
I was driving pretty hard on last Friday night and i heard crazy-loud popping sound from undernearh my car...First i thought i blew my engine , so i was like "oh *****..here comes trouble" ..Then, i took it to my garage and checked everything out...
And It was the pipe(right side) that my installer put when he removed my primary cat during the installation of K2...
Should i just take it to a local muffler shop and weld it back in?
or should i take it to my installer( about 180miles away) ??
BTW, its been a month since i had it installed and i am wondering how it could
happen...Could it be sudden drop in temperature?? (its 37 degrees here in Indiana)
Thanx...
P.S : my local muffler guy wants $100~150...does it sound resonable>?

Thermal cycling would not cause the pipe to break - there has to be a lot of stress on it. And that stress doesn't necessarily have to be from improper installation. It could also occur from something like a faulty motor mount. Have your local shop try to determne the cause. If it's from bad installation, call the installer and ask if he's willing to reimburse you for the cost of the repair.

It wouldn't take much of a misalignment to cause sufficient stress to crack.
Have you considered a small flex section ? After reading about the header crack and then this, I would look into its feasability.
Good luck, J.

Here is what you do.
1. Load the new pictures on your computer.
2. Go here: http://imageshack.us/ and hit the "Browse" button. This will allow you to find the picture on your computer. Once you click on the picture this site will also re-size (pick 800x600). Then hit the "Host-it" button.
3. A thumbnail will then appear.......do a doule left click to enlarge it. Once enlarged do a right mouse click....go to properties, hit enter....... and copy the address of your hosted picture.
4. Finally go back to the "Thread Reply" page and click this and then paste the address of your hosted picture on the displayed line.
Good luck.

I am gonna call my installer tomorrow to see what he would say about this....So i will let you guyz know....These days, i am really starting to dislike my car.... especially in this weather....My heater doesnt work, my seat makes sounds, cracked pipe, and the cracking noise from somewhere in rear... ohh..forgot to add...when i turn on my heater( only when it works..1 out of 7 times) i could smell the exhaust which gives me a massive headache since my pipe cracked... Maybe its time for another car>????

That is not going to be fixed that easily ... I think the product has a deisgn flaw there and the system needs a flex joint there like supersprint do.
Alternatively the joint is carrying weight of the exhaust and or teh brackets are too firm and stressing the system rather than allowing some movement...
If you gun the motor it will press in its mounts and then flex the exhaust - so if the exhaust mount bushings are to firm it will strees any joint. You need looser more flexible bushings to help here rather than firmer ones.
P.S. the car must run and sound like a dog...

Except the check engine light is on...Do i need to send my ecu back
to Kleemann to get rid of it??
Also, about the cracking noise from the rear is the bushings....Should i take it

CEL was on for 1 day and the next morning, when i turned my engine on, it disappeared...good for me...i guess..lol
since then, i had no problem, but i still dont know what caused it though...But, my exhaust hanger was broken, so i had to replace it...could it be the reason?

If you ever have a problem with your car or want to Go to K4 and dont want to deal with your other installer I'd love to help. I'm an authorized Kleemann installer/distributor in North Jersey. I have plenty of 55/65 motor experience.
