Commander is an official Lemon....Will the E55 be lonely??
The Commander will be gone in a few weeks. Jeep (DC) was nice about it and handled it right. I don't want to start putting too many miles on the E and want to be able to set it aside for mods, so i need a DD. G500 or not!!!!??

Yes yes yes! I think the G is the classiest SUV out there. I don't know about you but we have a lot of em in our area but they never lose that class. Sorry to hear about the Jeep, glad that went through ok.

Here's the deal. I was considering a low mileage used, but I'm thinking no older than an '05 (due to gremlins). All the CPO I find are just barely less than the $80k of a new one, so why not get new?
My problem has been finding a build sheet on it so I can at least spec it out the way i like. Since I've lost my contact at Hoehn, I'd be willing to give you a shot as my new MB sales. I've learned you are a straight up dude and actually almost bought my last E55 from you. Can you tell me what G500s you have? I wanted white, but am not finding one. The next color is that granite grey. I want it LOADED!!

I want solid axles to go offroad. i plan to customize it with rock rails, etc.
Other than that, I almost bought a GL to replace the ML. The 7g scares me, but I'm sure it will get worked out. So, if offroad was not a thought, a GL or RR sport it would be.

....I remember reading somewhere the GL is superior to the old G when it comes to off-roading?....I could be wrong though?
....besides Mercedes do not list the G as a new vehicle anymore??

At this time I only have an 03 G500. People seem to hang on to them. New 07s are about to be released, I will check and see what we have coming in.
If you have any questions feel free to call me.
Thanks again,

Can you check to see when the '07s will be here and if I can get a buid sheet on it? I had a buddy that ordered an E55 and he was able to order things like the Designo seats, etc. without buying only the offered packages (from MBUSA.com). Can you guys do such things too? If so, I'd be interested. Also, if you can verify on available colors. Can I get White? Can I get the short wheelbase? Etc. We can take this discussion offline, if you'd like to PM me. I am serious and ready to buy.

The GL is a stretch ML. It was first intended to replace the G, but demand for the G was strong enough and manufacturing facilities remained, so the G will stay with only minor changes through 2010.
The G has solid axles. No SUV with independant suspension is anywhere near as offroad capable. End of discussion.
MBUSA still has the G as a new car, you just can't build it as they do not know when and if parts will be swapped out. It just says to call your local dealer. That is where Vadim comes in. He may not be local, but he is honest and knowledgable, so I'll drive.

2006 E55, 2007 GL450
Off-roading is the furthest thing from my mind. See...we don't exactly have lots of places to go in Jersey.
Anyway...looks like I'll be picking up a new GL this week to replace the wife's Z71 Suburban.

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
My Mom has an '03 G500 and aside from the power window gremlins it's been trouble free. I know not all G500 owners can say the same, though.
She could have swapped it out any time for any other car, but she's so attached to it, it will probably end up being an heirloom of sorts by staying in the family in one form or another. I've been lobbying for it by convincing her to get a new car (and sell the G500 to me at a family discount ), but no dice, lol.

Jangy - Will a GL450 with the off-road package suit your needs?
I just picked up a GL for my wife this week and it is a great truck. I did not get the off-road package, as the Nordstrom parking lot is about as off-road as it will get for her.

Not a chance, dude. I am a pretty hardcore offroader. I go places that stock wranglers, etc. have a hard time. It all comes down to the suspension type. If it is independent suspension, it makes it ride better on the roa, but worse offroad. Simple as that. I am willing to give up onroad ride quality for offroad prowess.
I do like the GL and came ever so close to getting the wife one, but that was as a replacement to the ML not the Jeep.
