Take 1 part E60 M5
Add 1 set, SuperSprint headers
Add 1 set, SuperSprint catbacks
Add 1 Hamann ECU
Voila- 640 horsepower.
I just realized we're the same age. Do it to it man, you're gonna love this car, ultimate stealth capabilities and the dynamic seats are the shiznite. Just remember to get the red interior, do not pass go, get the red interior.

As for mods Dunno about headers they are kinda pricy, but i do want SS race exhaust and either Hammann or AA ECu.

The E63 vs M5 is really not very intersting.
The M5 is going to outgun the E63 after 120.
Under 120, very even I would think.
As far as modding....
The aftermarket support for the M5 is all Top End Hp and a bit more torque, but still at a high RPMS.. great for racing, tracks and to reach 200MPH faster.
The aftermarket support (very little at this point) for the E63 will create Hp and torque at much lower RPM levels than say an M5.
Renntech is already claiming 515lbs of torque out of the E63 engine and 550hp . For daily use this would be more suitable.
For the track and autobahn, the M5 modding is king.

M5
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...ighlight=0-150
somehow Car and driver's report does not show the 0-150 times anymore.
================================================== ======
Please notice the 0-150 times for both cars by the same Magizine.
The trap is 4 miles higher for the 1/4 and by the time they reach 150, it would be over for the E63.
By 100 it would be close, by 120 the lead would be gone.

sorry I had to break up all my different points and arguments.
tks,

Generally E55's have about 500 hp at the crank and it takes a ton of work on a blown engine just to get to 600hp. Trust me I have done the work
I am not doubting you but if there is such a thing and it was that easy I would be dumping my E55 right now and getting an M6. Please tell me that you misquoted because I just got a CL65 and dont want to spend 100k on an M6

Over at M6 board somone did the Supersprint Headers & Cats and Active Autowerke's ECU upgrade. Baseline dyno (on Dynojet) was 422.68 HP and 314.17 Ft/lbs Torque, after the mods the new dyno is 459.67 and 335.59 Ft/lbs Torque. So the realistic gain is about 37hp to the wheel and 21ft/lbs more torque. That's roughly 550HP/410LB at the CRANK. And the cost will run you $12k PLUS. As you hinted, I don't think there's anyway M5/M6 can be more bang for the buck to modify as the F/I E55 motros!
The only comment I found was K&N dyno'ed three M5s that all had the charcoal filters intact when they worked on the original intake/filter design, and the other car w/out charcoal filters dyno'ed nearly identical; hence my previous comment said "if it really adds something, it would be 7HP at the crank is my guess", but of course I could be wrong and would love to see a side by side dyno if it's available.

I should update my sig. My bro has a 06 E55 (designo graphie), also an amazing car.. and we get to switch keys. One of the perks living together. heheh
