Yep it's BS. Don't know what pcar you had but mine held it's value very well.
Off topic. Do you miss the 355? Can you post a few pics? I almost bought one a few years ago but was afraid of the price of ownership. One of my favorite Fcars not to mention the sound. How does it compare to the 360?

f355 is a great car, miss it very much.
many f-car owners consider it to be the last true ferrari made, i agree.
if u park a F355 next to a 360, the F355 looks WAY MORE exotic, can't compare.
the big factor of fcars is sound, a F355 de-cat, with tubi exhaust and header, is the best sounding v8 ferrari, period. 360's with capristo level 3 and other mods can be loud, but doesn't sound as nice as a F355, f355 is got the high pitch f1 sound.
performance compared to a regular 360, the difference is rather minimal, my car was modded and its a '95 ODB1 car, so it had more power.
compared to my stradale, its night and day of performance difference.
the only concern on f355, is the maintainese cost. header, valve are known to have issues. engine always need to come out for major, electronics might have issues ... etc. i would love to have a f355 and keep forever if there is not maintainese issue. but logically, buy a late model ferrari with factory warranty is the smart way to go.

u drive it off the dealer showroom floor, u already down 5k.
but for it to continue to drop like a rock, its crazy. a '05 is already 2 yrs old, it STILL drops more than 2k per month, thats pretty bad. compared to audi or bmw or whateva.

Just remember that the Dealer is going to try and rip the car from you so it can turn around and try to make some money on it...........thats why they are called "Dealers".

When anyone talks resale value, be sure to look at actual sales transaction prices, not listed or book values. BIG differences. The dollars changing hands are sure to be much lower.

i had a 2001 slk 320 that i really wish i'd kept. it was solid as a rock, and when i see the odd slk of that era that's still around (i.e. hasn't been traded in and wholesaled off to brazil or something), they still look great, everything seems to be in working order, and unlike some cars (corvettes of the 90's, for example), the plastic bodyparts and interior parts retain their integrity and don't warp and/or get discolored. seems like a good out-of-warranty deal to me.
as for the e55, i'm not as sure because of all the extra electronics: the air suspension is an area of concern, but then again there are 70's benzes out there whose air suspensions are still operating fine. on the other hand, the brakes make me wonder, but then what on earth could happen out of warranty that wouldn't happen within the warranty, right? the braking circuitry isn't a mean-time-before-failure thing because it's electronic; the physical hardware moving parts are similar wear 'n tear whether you've got an '05 or an '01, right?
as for the interior nav/radio thing and hvac controls, the hvac can't be worse than the 80's e class hvac controller, but i wonder how that "comand" thing will hold up over the next several years.
i wouldn't have spent this kind of dough had i not meant to keep this car until it's like the old diesel 300 wagons that you sometimes see on the road nowadays - an old hellish warrior car that's just indestructable. but if it's gonna cost thousands to maintain beyond ordinary high-end car standard payouts, i've gotta rethink my strategy while it's still worth something. at least i could trade it for a g55, right?
