Got it! 2005 E55 Love it -Pics
have now had it for about 2 weeks and I can't say how happy I went for this car...I sold my 06 Range Rover Sport S/C-Vesuvius to get this and I am way happier..RRS to slow.
Here are some pics...
BTW - I am considering selling the Brembo brake kits front and rear it has installed - ck the classifieds for more info..or PM me or email.
Thanks to all the great insight for reading here I finally found the car at my price.

Keep the Brembo's. Do you realize the kind of unsprung weight you're going to add if you put the OEM brakes on? It will change the character of the car and you're not gonna like it. The Brembo's will probably last twice as long as the stock rotor/caliper setup, disspate heat better and will always look better. If you want to tone it down a bit have the calipers painted something other than "look at me red". I love the car, enjoy it in good health.

Thanks for the remarks...guys
CylinderHead - I am just concerned about warranty issues. I know these babies have SBC problems. This car already had the SBC pump changed and whatever else they do when you get a "brake Light"........The car runs great and feels real light on is feet....I have mixed emotions about the brakes...I have an offer on the "stock" AMG brakes at $3000.
Should I sell those instead?? Would that be a fair price(any imput here would be appreciated)..I am not in need of the cash but this guy really wants my stock brakes...he already bought my stock wheels...so he's good for it.
Anyways...keep the killer brakes or put the stockers (AMG's) back on that is the poll question???
Thanks again ...what a dilemma!!! Cant wait to race to the polls today...don't forget to VOTE ...Thats why those boys are fighting for us all ...

I would leave that car ALONE!!! It has light forged wheels, a 4 wheel brembo brake upgrade and who knows what else. Between the wheels and brakes I bet u have 20 lbs saved per corner. That is an amazing car and would cost upwards of 20-30 to replicate!
Any go fast parts under the hood?

Sounds like the poser, I mean buyer, is trying to make a fakety-five. God I hate guys who do that. Did he offer to buy your badges too? Anyway, sell the stockers, keep the cash and buy three SBC pumps. Seriously you're WAY better off with that very expensive and top shelf set of brakes. It would be the very first thing I did to an E55 were I to purchase one. You've basically been given a silver spoon, and you're asking if you should trade it for a lifetime supply of wooden spoons.

you are crazy if you change thoes brakes! some one spent alot of cash on that set up for performance and it looks great. i personaly like the red calipers and want to paint my stock ones red. if you do decide you dont want them we can work out a trade and cash for the brembos. or ill just buy them and sell my brakes.

Great info and I think you guys are right...I don't know what a SBC pump sells for but you think a lot less than the $3K I can get for the stockers...
NO BS here from me on this thread though...just asking questions to you die hards. I have the car and the extra brakes and this guy calling me to sell them to him. So I thought I get some "professional" opionions..
I had called the Brabus shop in Newport beach and they say that the stockers are as good as the brembos...that they are actually made by brembo for MBZ....any truth to that? Did notice the stockers have brembo pads!!!
OK..so I think I will sell my stockers since I have a buyer and keep the Brembos...I do not mind the "RED" calipers..they do look cool....
Last question ...$3K for stock AMG brakes all around a fair deal...The Brabus guy said this sells for over $12K from the dealer...

We definitely know you're not BSing, we just think the buyer of your stockers is trying to create a BS E55. Anyhoo, your Brabus guy has his head firmly lodged in his rectum. Yes the stockers are made in some sort of joint venture with brembo, but they're a heavy, cheap setup, and the Gran Turismo kit is top of the line, huge difference. The difference in weight is not even funny.
I'm very psyched for you man, your future is looking bright!!!

Your stockers should say Brembo on the back side
As far as the Brembo BBK is concerned, the advantage over the stocker is the 2 piece design and the aluminum calipers, which saved you a lot of weight, just like CynCrvn32 pointed out. Also the brake discs are bi-directional unlike the stockers, which allow the discs to be properly cooled.

Yes...your right on with the guy making a fake 55, he has a wagon and is putting on my old wheels, body kit and is begging to buy my brakes...
I thought I would toss in this last little bit of info....
My car has TPMS - ...each wheel has a value/stem sensor and each wheel has a pickup device that mount to the "caliper"....the Brembo kit does NOT have the holes drilled for the sensor to mount too...no good
The system is working oddly enough, works as should right.. pressure readings, because the sensors are tyewrapped near by the caliper out of harms way...but I just don't like dangling wires near high speed moving parts.
I think I may need to fabricate a bracket or other device..any one heard of someone doing this so its professional and not mickey mouse.
This was also part of my reasoning of going back to OEM....but now I would feel like a complete idiot if I did so...just kidding....but your guys have shed some light on how fortunate I am to have obtained this beast with this setup awesome wheel and brake setup.
Also got the Carlsson wheels..Carlsson lower module, Carlsson front lip spoiler, Renntech rear deck spoiler, upgraded steering wheel..and brembo big brakes all around, titnted windows and tails..........nothing to the motor other than the cool paint job...way cool.

Sharp..yes This car WAS on ebay.
He was local to me and I was able to see it in person and made him an offer.
He was unable to get what he wanted on ebay..I was the only cash carrying serious offer...I feel I got a smoking deal and am extremely happy with the car as well....
The painted engine compartment really looks great too...the whole friggen car kicks major butt. Damn its really hard to explain the Torque this badboy has(you guys know)...I can't imagine it with engine mods too boost...it is addictive and I have been driving it hard and alot lately...yet is is easy to drive slowly with the wife...ready to jump with the touch of my toe.
Yahoo!!! I guess I don't know how well I have with these brakes cuase I haven't been able to drive it with out them...
I will do as cylinderhead suggest and have a shop fabricate a bracket to hold my TMPS sensors in place.
Thanks...for setting me straight with this brake upgrade I may have taken for granted....

The Brembo setup is a major improvement. selling your OEM setup for $3K is not a bad deal (for you). the Brembo runs about $6k anyway, right?
At any rate, I'd keep em. The Stock ones are one of the weaknesses on the car PLUS they add weight that is always a pleasure to take out.
Great looking car. lets see some more pics. Engine bay, etc.
oh yeah, I have used a high temp glue before to mount the sensors in a nice spot and control the wires. Very cheap and looked professional.

Thanks for the info Jangy...
I will take some more pics and post em...whats this Carlsbad car event about I hear...you going, I'ed like to hook up with other E55 owners for an event and show off. Those are always lots of fun and you get to put a face behind the screen name, ck others rides and get ideas for your own.
I may try that method of high temp glue...and will go by a mod shop to see if some one can come up with a solution that is a bit more permanent...like a bracket.
I will study this over the weekend and my fabricate some idea myself and have a some else make it for me. I will take pics of the final product and post here for other who may later decide to upgrade and have TPMS.
My neighbor works as a Hella wholesaler and they are making TPMS aftermarket for all cars...supposedly Tire pressure monitoring will be mandated by 2008 by DOT in all new cars....
