Quick help needed please..purchase decision

Hi, I'm a newbie here but I'm counting on the kindness of strangers to assist me, as I would someone visiting the Infiniti or BMW or motorcycle road racing or GSXR forums

I current own a 2006 Infiniti M45 which I love other than I'm somewhat a HP junkie, having recently given up (for now) road racing motorcycles. No one will release any serious HP upgrades for the VK45 so here I am.

So, opinions needed please on this deal on a 2004, 7500 mile E55 with:
* - Burl Walnut
* - Std Standard Edition
* - Rear Side-Window Blinds
* - 319 Lighting Package
* - Standard Radio
* - Power Rear-Window Sunshade
* - 6-Disc CD Changer

... which I have to act on fast:

Thank you for your inquiry on our E55 AMG.
It is a one owner, locally owned (semi-rural) vehicle. The previous owner bought a 2007.

I am selling it to another dealer in Florida Monday unless you agree to buy it first thing Monday. (yes pressure here, but rural dealers do have trouble moving cars like this so its feasible)

I will sell it for 57500 without the Mercedes CPO warranty or 59095 with the warranty.

End of email - I sent my inquiry about 7pm last night.

Unfortunately, I am traveling this week and this dealer is 150 miles away from me. I do have relatives familiar with this class of vehicles and **** like me about condition in the area who could pre-screen. Assuming its a non-smoker and in excellent condition, what is the opinion on the forum...a deal good enough to merit haste or pass and keep looking?

VIN: WDBUF76J64A481685 - Does anyone have a carfax membership?

PS I already have the winter/workhorse car covered..an '06 Frontier pickup

20+ to list......
That seems like a steal for an 04 E55 with such low mileage, please make sure you or your relatives physically check it out before you make your decision.

I would only consider it with the warranty. Also, try to get the late model '04 as they made some changes through that model year.

Here's the car:

And forget the CarFax request, it's only $25 for 30 days - unlimited.

The red leather inserts might be a deal killer for me...

He's going from $69K to $57K? Wow.

The price is decent, the mileage is good, but the options are limited. Make sure you won't "wish for more" after you had it. The red insert may "sell" it to you now, but may need a "specific" type of buyer later.... Or not. I'm just saying it may have a polarizing effect.

can you see if you can talk to the previous owner? rural towns and all...???

good luck.

As for the price, it's been sitting on his lot since 6/14 according to CarFax and he's ready to wholesale it.

However, I think the insert is going to be a deal killer for me unless he comes down in price and he gets me the contact info for the local owner. Also, as you mentioned the lack of options will probably cause regret for not just spending another $5K or so given how others have negotiated.

I'll keep searching.

It says you've gone off the idea but i'd reconsider. That's a great deal. You'll probably end up negotiating down to mid 50s with warranty (weird he would offer with/without). Doubt you'll get 5k off but even so it's a lot of car. With nearly 500bhp in a 2004 MB at that pricev who needs options! The red inserts are fine. They are darker than they look in the photos as I had them in my C32.

I agree, but it is what it is, and in the low 60's I'm seeing 05's with low miles and more options and no red insert...

I'm not 100% off it, just strongly onto continuing my search!

A very big thank you for everyone who has responded

I wouldn't worry too much about the Merlot inserts! They really are MUCH
darker when you see them personally. I could never get a photo of them without it bringing out the colour way too much.

I have them on my tectite grey E55, and I think they look great! Way better than the all black look in my opinion. It just breaks up the colours nicely.

Anyway, each to their own! Some will love it...some not!

Good luck with your purchase!

Thats a fantastic price for a car with that few miles. If it checks out buy it, the seats are easy enough to change if you start hating the inserts. Whats the story with the "without warranty" offer? Isn't this car still covered by the factory warranty?

With or without the extended CPO warranty, yes it is still covered by the regular warranty...

I may end up regretting it but I contacted the guy and told him that since I would not be able to make it there until Friday, if he had to wholesale it tomorrow to another dealer that he should do it. He also refused to give up the prior owners name, saying there was no time to contact him to make sure it was OK. He said he would let me know if the wholesale fell through, but doubted it would.

I've got some lines on some others....

These two issues are a little shady. As a rule, I only buy used cars that have had only one previous owner. Ie. someone who bought new.

Good luck with your search
