Just joined the E55 Ownership Ranks

I'm pretty excited. This past Friday I picked up my Certifed Pre-Owned 2005 E55 and drove it about 450 miles back to my home. The ride was great, the car is great, and since it's my very first Mercedes Benz, I know I have a lot of learning to do since I historically have done alot of my own maintenance on my cars. I've attached a shot of my new ride, and I look forward to learning from the veterans here.

The car isn't loaded with options, but it's not a base model either. It has what I wanted - the lighting package and DVD navigation and 6 CD changer. I would have like the parktronic option, but understand it can be added by the dealer.

Car only had 8K on and was in service for only 10 months prior to being traded in. I have the CPO warranty on it through the end of 2011, so I'm good to go. Love that 1.9% incentive financing that Mercedes is offering on the E class, too!!!

For me, this isn't a car that needs a whole lot. I am thinking a set of GStop brake lines to firm up the brake pedal feel, and then adding a Quaife to the differential. Oh, and some decent tires. The Continentals are lousy at best, and it's hard to understand, other than on a pure cost basis (read cheap) why Merecedes would put them on this car at the factory.

Congrats on the new ride.... the E55 is an amazing ride! I am not sure if the dealership will put on factory options for you. Should have negotiated that from the get go.... If you do a search on Steve, he is the mod king and could install any option for you. Well maybe not any, but most of them! Good luck!

Brake feel will never come as you have SBC. There simply is no feedback frome the brakes. The signal goes from foot to pad pretty quick, but you have to find another source for the feel. Consider wheels and rotors for a potential savings of almost 30lbs per corner!! The Quaife is a very nice add.

Congrats and welcome to MBWorld... Cant beat that 1.9% financing... What's your first mod? Windows Tint or Renntech ELM?
