OT - Dealer recommendations in Bay Area?
Hi all,
My bro is looking to pick up an MB and he lives up north. Anyone have a cool dealer about?
Thanks in advance. It is OT, since he is just getting an ML500 but I wanted to ask the E55 crowd.

I'll recommend contacting Hammer Down - info at https://mbworld.org/forums/members/21419-hammer-down.html
for Mercedes-Benz of Pleasanton.
He knows many people at the Pleasanton MB dealer and bought a couple of cars there. After seeing the service and the dealership, this will be the only place I will go. It'll be good to know the service advisor and the shop foreman that he knows as well.
They have a bunch of AMG cars, SLR, S65, and E63!

I have been very happy with Smythe European in San Jose. Very easy to deal with. I was working with Gorham (German transplant) at one time when we were trying to locate 2 E500's before we got the beast. Unfortunatley he was not able to locate the cars we wanted but still when I go in he is very friendly and very helpful. They have also been very good with service.

Same feeling about these Fremont guys, which is now Fletcher Jones, BTW.
Snobby and idiotic. I went there to look for an E55, the jerk calling himself a salesman told me they didn't have it and showed me a CL65 instead.
Great!

From what I know of the Fremont Dealership they are overpriced and kind of arseholes. I rolled up in my C class before I bought my E and they wouldn't even talk to me. This is the Bay Area for god sakes. I went over to Porsche and they were trying to get me to test drive a Cab. I thought MB Fremont was too snobby.

Every dealership is going to have thier idiot sales people and service advisors. At every good shop I've been to ... there have been at least 3 or more idiots for every good sales or service advisor I've met. Its all about finding the right sales person or service advisor.

Thanks for all the responses guys. At this point, I am sticking with Vadim. I was hoping to save my bro a trip down here. He is working with a broker up there. I'm sure Vadim can slash whatever deal that guy offers him PLUS I get to see my bro again.

All dealers pay the same amount for each car, thus they can all sell at any brokers best price.
The best way to get the bottomline is call around and get your lowest number through brokers or big dealers (Glauser-Fletcher Jones) and then call your local dealer and tell them the best deal you have and ask for the same or better.
Having owned many MB's I can attest to the fact that it is in the buyers best interest to buy the car at whichever dealer is going to do the service if possible.
They are more apt to solving your problems right away, they go the extra mile to get you a MB loaner(instead of a rental) and in general take much better care of you when you encounter problems, especially on a brand new car.
