Transmission Thud Question
This also happens sometimes when getting back on to the gas after braking hard.
It's seem to me that I remember something about the type a Trans that MB uses, lockup type? Is this normal? Please clue me in. Thanx

If you can duplicate the situation consistently, see if the technician can disable the torque convertor lockup why you drive the car to see if there is an improvement.
If you are higher miles like me, the first simple step is to change the tranny filter and fluid. I'm going to go out on a limb and let everyone know that that "lifetime fluid" stuff is bunk, change the fluid and filter at least at the 50K mile mark.

I get that too. I also get that when I'm driving very slowly in bumper to bumper traffic. And it only happens shifting from 1st to 2nd.
One added bonus is that it changes gears much quicker and with more aggressive shifts. It acts like my old Ford C4 with a "shift kit". I've noticed that it grabs (yellow triangle flash) when shifting into 3rd and 4th on cold pavement.
I think that this is an area that aftermarket guys need to explore, I like the feel much better even though the slack in the tranny/differential still seems to be there.
