............good point. There isn't much to see right now. Engine is in the shop getting the cylinders "sleeved." Custom valves and valve springs being made that can with stand forced induction. Will post pics when done. All work is being done locally.
..........with a project like this that is part experimentation, I'll be very interested in everyones ideas even if it makes it seem like too much talk.

Is the motor going to be fully built ?
Are turbo exhaust manifold going to be tubular or cast ?

any ideas on what model turbo yet? The new GT-K range looks awesome, i have just ordered a GT-K850 for my GTR. The GT-K650's with the 0.68 rear should easily support 1000+HP in twin config, and should be plenty responsive. Is a 0.68 rear possibly a bit small, could "possibly" choke the top end if your boosting towards the upper limit of their efficiency. But for your target 1000, 2.7litres per turbo, sounds very nice!!

What mods do you have planned for the motor? Pistons, Valves etc. I'm sure heat will be a major factor for the build. Look into a set of iconnel valves and so1 coating for the combustion chambers, valves and pistons http://www.hpcoatings.com.au/pages/so1.htm . Good luck! Look forward to the updates.

1. sleeving of the cylinder walls with coating
2. Low compression pistons. Planned compression ratio is 8.5:1
3. Custom valves and valve springs
......unfortunately, I am told that above things take about two months to fabricate
........the computer people are busy trying to figure out the engine management system to use
.........heat will be a major problem.....open to ideas on this and everything.
..........I have not decided on which turbo yet. I have been in contact with turbo technichs. The planned set up will be two large ball bearing turbos.

so... im hoping that now that the holidays are over we get more updates on this......
as of "heat".... thats not such a big issue as it sounds..... by adding:
1. Oil cooler
2. Water/methanol injection
3. fuel cooler (cryo)
4. electric fans with more capacity
you cannot cut corners on the above... as that will ensure the proper wear of all parts, specially the turbos (oil cooler)... the addition of a turbo timer shoudnt be a bad idea...to cool everything once the car is shut off.

..............Thanks for the info. I have no plans to cut corners. This project WILL be completed unless it is physically impossible. Electric fan with more capacity is being done. There are some space considerations. Oil cooler, I did not think of myself, but I understand how it can be done. I'm afraid I know nothing about fuel cooler. Can you elaborate?

I dont know much about MB tuning.. but maybe u can have Renntech or kleeman custom tune your car ? or look into EMS ..like AEM (EMS), talk to the guys over at Evosport for that..

heat wrap can be a good way to ruin thousands of dollars worth of parts, specifically turbos and exhaust parts. imo, it should ONLY be used to protect parts from heat, not used on heat containing parts (anything to do with exhaust gasses). i don't claim to be an expert but i do speak from first hand experience with turbo and non f/i motors.

.......Most of the turbo cars you see at the track are 4 or 6 cylinder low displacement cars. To get the power, these cars need larger turbos and a lot of boost than a W210 E55 would need. With my E55, we are starting with a 5.2 liter V8 engine that already makes 350HP stock. Getting to say 800RWHP with two relatively large but not extremely large turbos will be easy. This can also be done at much lower boost than these other cars. I believe that a turbo running at the same boost level as a Kleemann supercharger will generate twice the power. As you know, more boost equals more heat. At current time, the boost level we plan to use hopefully will not generate too much heat as to need cryo fuel cooler. Another thing also is that the car will be daily driven. We have our eye on the Mercedes S600 ans S65 as models. These cars can be driven all day long and have simple turbo systems.

honestly ted you really dont need to worry about a fuel cooler. If he plans on running 40+psi then maybe but not at say 15-25psi i think. High octane can help in that are if needed
People have been running setups like this for years in other cars without that. Adding complexity will only make your daily driver less of one.
All you need to really worry about is making sure the engine has enough fuel and the right octane. Twin whatever turbos you run will be great and much smoother than a big single. My days in the supra world remind me how voilent a single compared to twins are. Plus you be able to run pretty low boost compared to smaller cc engines. Your really never gonna know what boost will give detonation at pump gas levels so untill you strap it to the dyno.......

2. matching turbos for desired boost and drivablity
3. FUEL and Engine management
Thats all you need to really figure out. Your on the right path.
