Renntech Throttle Body

First of all I just what to give Victor props for building what sounds like the best throttle body on the market. As my car is mostly all Renntech aftermarket parts, I would like it to be consistent and am thus thinking about getting the Renntech throttle body to go with the rest of my Renntech parts. Does anyone with this throttle body have an opinion on it. Is it worth it? Have you experienced any differences in low or top end performance. Thanks

Don't have the Renntech TB(78mm) but do have the Kleemann(80mm) and according to my shop guy it is a big improvement from acceleration. About 27-30HP gain. Stock TB for W211 is only 74mm so i'm sure you'll feel a difference. What Renntech Stage are you currently running?

it not the same the renntech is bigger 78mms and i would stick with renntech just for the warranty part of it. just like id do with kleeman or brabus. what if by some crazy chance something happened to vrus TB? i know renn will take it out give you a new one and not a penny outta your pocket. for me the hassel of takin it out sending it somewhere and waitin is not worth it. now its just a TB so i dont think anything will go wrong but you never know.

It's the other way around, the vrus and kleeman are bigger tb's 80mm vs 78mm. The Renntech is a modified stock tb, while klee and Vrus use the v12 tb's.

Steve,

Firstly, thanks for the kudos!!! They are truly appreciated.

Secondly, the next mod you do should be TB.. It really is worth its weight in gold!

Now.. Lets clear up a few misconceptions:

1) Renntech uses the same AMG TB that I use. Renntech supplies the same 80mm Y-pipe that I supply. The only difference between my kit and Renntech's kit is they charge $3995USD and I charge $2550USD.. Other than that our kits are identical.

2) The V12TT TBs and the AMG TB that I use and the Renntech TB are all the same size!!! Renntech measures the butterfly plate when they quote 78mm.. Kleemann and myself quote the opening of the mouth (so does AMG by the way). In the parts list the AMG TB is listed as 80mm. For all purposes here, they are all 80mm because the MOUTH on all of them is the same size.

3) The SL65, SL600/Maybach, and AMG TB that I use all have different part #'s, different wiring pinouts, and different motor actuations, but physically they are all the same sizes. They vary in that 1 of them has the EGR connection plugged, 1 is missing EGR altogether, 1 has the EGR intact.

4) If you get an 80mm TB (whichever one it may be), the Renntech airbox you have has to be scrapped!! The opening on their airbox is only 74mm so you basically have to throw it away when you upgrade.

BTW, my CF airbox that is being made and will be here SHORTLY is adaptable to both the stock 74mm & the 80mm TBs..

I hope this clears up all the confusion.

Victor,

Thanks for clarifying this issue for me.. You are a genius...
I believe Renntech makes a special airbox for the 78/80mm throttle body, thus I would have to sell mine or swap it for a new one. BTW, when do you think your air box will be available, and how much will it costs.

Thanks

First one is due to arrive at the end of November. I'll have pics and details posted as soon as it lands in my hands. The first run of 32 is sold out.. The airbox will be around $2200 and will be available for shipping in January.

Not true. RENNtech's is the same, a modified V12 TB, not a modified V8 one

...and it needs to be measured at the throttle plate, not at the opening!
