Sounds about right, the M5 traps higher and will pull on the 63 at higher speeds.

Any V10 car that runs in the 14's should be shot

i'm no techie, but between a 6.3 liter AMG engine on the 2007 E63 vs. the 5.4 liter AMG V8 in a 1999-2002 E55...how did MB squeeze out almost 50% more HP for less than 1 iiter displacement? does that mean that there was much for potential untapped on the old V8 also? after all, bmw squeezed 400hp out of their old M5 also w/ less displacement to the 5.4 liter also.

High specific output has never been a Mercedes priority. You are correct to say the old V8 had untapped potential, though it was an old block so would need a fair bit of work. Motorsport, on the other hand, pride themselves on high revving engines that are NA and highly tuned. 355bhp (CSL) out of the 3.2 I6 at 7,900rpm and 500bhp out of the V10 at 8k highlight the racing nature BMW strives for.

Back on topic, the E63 turned in a great 0-60. S6 isn't close to the M5 or E63 but I can't wait for the new RS6.

Read the following article:

http://www.ae-plus.com/Key%20topics/...ain-news13.htm

You will see how advanced the new AMG 6.2 engine is. I dont think many other engines come close to what AMG did by themselves.

This is also exactly what Mercedes promised the E63 would do.

Put 255 front and 285 rear on mb and then it might even outrun m5 maybe.
