Panerai Luminor or Stage 1??
OK guys - Have $5,500 burning a hole in my pocket. Should I go Kleeman/Renntech Stage 1 or buy a watch that I have been eyeing for a year?
Need to decide quickly, before my better sense says "do neither".

get the Panerai
I have 2 pams.....they are timeless and will retain their value better (not to mention lasting much much longer) than your kleeman kit. Good luck either way

I went the other way, got the all the stages done first since I have some nice watches (Rolex, Breitling) and then I got the Panerai Daylight.

I had a similar situation and I chose the Renntech upgrade for my bi-turbo CL600. A quartz Seiko or Timex will tell time better than pretty much any automatic or manual watch. Yeah, it doesn't look as cool but the only thing it does is tell time. With that said, I wear an Omega but if I had to choose a cool watch or a faster car I'd choose the faster car.
Go for the upgrades so you can use it every day. I think the smiles per mile would be better spent on an ASP pulley and a less expensive or pre-owned watch of your choice. You can get a pre-owned Panerai Luminor and a new ASP pulley for what you want to spend. So.....get both!

I agree but be careful buying any preowned watch - there are some very good fakes coming to market these days.....good luck

respect klubs watch vote, but would say do stage 1. have patek calatrava ('52 vintage)/two rolex/jaeger lecoultre and never wear anything but my timex lap/time watches. did RT-1 as car is daily driver and love it.

Do the watch. I was in the same situation and decided to get the watch. Its the Breitling Bentely GT. It didn't help that I got it for cheap either. I told myself I would do stage 1 after but I have been eyeing an IWC and now I'm back to square one...Good luck with your decision...
