997 Turbo Fever
What do you guys think?
The E55 has been a great car and is the best in it's class in my opinion, but I have never been to excited about modding the car since it is not truly a "sports" car in the classic sense. Don't get me wrong, the E has a lot of potential but I have never figured out how to take about 500 lbs. off it's ***
.I stopped by the Porche dealership of Hilton Head SC yesterday and they can get me one at MSRP. I have not seen any at a discount thus far and don't expect to for at least another 6-9 months when the 08's come out.
BTW they had a GT3 and a GT sitting on the floor, both owned by Ken Griffey Jr.!! Both Black and WOW!!!
The GT3 was the biggest surprise though. That car looks better than just about anything else on the road right now including most of the other exotics
Sooooo... would you guys take the leap to the 997 Turbo?
Does the one you looked at have the options for Tiptronic S automatic transmission and/or the Sport Chrono Package Turbo!!
I also loved the GT3 since I see them at the track all the time and I do some road race. They look great and eat the track up easily. But I don't think it will be as pleasant a ride on the street compare to the 997 turbo for the ride and for the turbo. GT2 will be really nice since I'm biased to boost and power.

The SL65 shout is a good one- as you can see by my signature. If you only need two proper seats then go for one of the P-cars (which has more room in the back than an Aston) or the SL. They are three of the few cars you could trade your 55 for and be pleased you did it.

So many cars, so little time.

I just talked myself out of dumping my E55 in December for a 997TT. I had a sweet stage III 996TT and while I miss it I realized the advancements in the chassis and comfort were so good in the 997TT that I had to consider one. But then Xmas came and I bought the wife some flippin diamonds and I curbed my desire. But now I am thinking again. Plus having a CL65 has rejuvenated my turbo envy- even though FI is nice with my 55!

I had an E55 K2 and loved it. Sold it last March for my '06 997S and have never regretted it. Neither the E nor the p-car is my daily driver, although I put a fair amount of miles on both of them (the 997 has a little over 10K in 8 months).
I have driven the 997S on several trips of a couple of hundred miles at a time. It is surprisingly comfortable. The seats are awesome. The TT is even more comfortable and "civilized", much to the horror of some of the purists. The GT3 is an awesome car but even with it's improved ride over the 996 I think it may still be a bit too hard core for the amount of miles I put on the car. Especially since there are a lot of long trips. I agree that the GT3 is one of the best looking cars I've ever seen. Better looking than the TT but i've seen some TT's with GT3 wheels or other, and lowered and it is wicked looking.
I would not get the tip but that's a personal thing. PDK will be here soon and that I would consider but like the stick.
As far as pricing, getting better than sticker will be difficult in the major markets in my opinion for a bit longer. Yeah there are exceptions and there are also BSers.

Yeah it's tough not to like this car.
Currently the market is seeing used 997 TT's at or just below retail.
Although below retail may be available, I have yet to hear anyone say they have purchased one for below retail. I think you probably have to know someone at a dealership, like the owner

Which Gray is that? I am also considering the 6 spd with ceramic brakes, VERY NICE build!

As for the Pcars, the TT vs GT3 is just such a dichotomy for me. The TT is just too civil for a "sports" car of that caliber. Mainly due to the all wheel drive. It makes it safer and allows the most novice of drivers to haul nuts (definition of civil). The GT3, on the other hand, is lacking in power. GREAT chassis, but not enough power. That is where the good old GT2 comes into play, except that P-cars do the phasing thing. By the time the GT2 is available, we will already be drooling over the next generation.
All in all, I feel your pain. You simply can't go wrong, however. I'm not considering dumping the E, but I have been eyeing a GT3 for quite some time. Each time I almost do it, I find some excuse to back out. It simply has not been right, yet...
