Received a call from my dealer regarding power loss

Let me begin by saying, this board provides a wealth of information...as well as upstanding members who provide such info. Thanks.

Well, I brought the '06 E55 to the dealer for servicing regarding some power-loss issues I've been having. I received a phonecall from my SA and she said they replaced a "recirculating pump". Is this synonymous to the intercooler pump?

enlighten an ignorant fellow!

that is the ic pump. It is actually the same basic pump used to flow warm coolant though the heater core on cars with the rest feature. Sounds spiffy huh?

Why do I keep thinking that is the dreaded recall we all talked about.

It's an air pump and reflash ....no???

It got kinda hyped up, but most guys say power came back better than ever after a some mileage. Pretty sure the recirc pump is the recalled air pump but no intercooler water pump.

Just my 2cents.

***edit...think I got it now. It was the Air Injection pump that everyone hated. Recirc pump sounds like the intercooler like the other guys said, so I bet you will be good to go. No worries.

Thanks for the much valued input, fellas!

Hopefully the drive from the dealership won't be as anemic as the one to it.

So, a quicj update: I took my car in and they replaced the "coolant pump" p/n: 000-500-03-86.

Unfortunately, one month later, I am AGAIN having supercharger issues. It seems it's not coming on at all again. Could this be a case of another faulty ic pump? or dealer fraud?

My right foot is depressed!

im not sure if it is the same thing but if your havin the same symptoms it probably is another bad pump. i read all the bad pump threads and skiped that problem all together and got the renntech i/C pump and larger heat exchanger. sure it cost 3k but my car is modded and i still have no coolin issues. well worth it in my opinion.

I am going with the RennTech IC upgrade as well ($3k? jeez). Anyhow back to the current issue. What model year car? Where are you located? This is an extremely difficult problem to diagnose, since there are no faults codes typically associated with it and using a simple butt dyno is hard for just any MB tech to tell if you are making power.
I say get it to a dealer that has had experience with this issue. Make sure they are trully replacing everything and not just a valve. Last, make sure you have the updated SC clutch as well.

I had the same problem, and they replaced the intake temp. sensor. Ken from Renntech was working on my car yesterday, and he noticed that the car was still running hot. and it seemed like it was failing or there was an air gap in the system. i think about 70d C. So Im going to try and get the pump replaced the next time I head to the dealer

I think so. I just dont feel like dropping it off at the dealer and having them tell me its within spec, but I also dont know when I will do the IC upgrade.

You know I can't post that. Actually, I wasn't implying how much cheaper mine is. I was just commenting the overall cost in general.

You are so funny with your dislike of taking the car to get work done. I wish I could hook you up with good service near you, so you could enjoy it more.

I am close to stepping away from the keyboard for typing this to you Jangy...You should go with evo's. It looks better and runs like a champ.

You know EVO doesn't like their parts on my car. I do like their IC system. I assume all the sizing issues have been worked out, as bigger is better in this case!!

I didn't know they had an issue with sizing? It pokes out the lower grille a bit, but it looks mean. I was shocked to not see any damage on it when the lower grille got pushed in from the jerk that hit me. It's really built solid. I told you I have taken the car 140 in 110 degree Arizona weather with it staying at 80.

*Not pluggin evo here BTW...I will also have Kleemann stuff next month, and I have Vrus parts. My car will be a mutt.

i dont have a gauge hooked up but i can tell you that on 3 back to back runs on the dyno my car only lost 8hp. i also have to dissagee with you the renntech IMHO looks nicer even though you realy cant see it. as far as witch one works better i have no clue but i do feel confident in renntech over any others out there. when you gonna update your sig so i can see all the mods you have?

my car is at euroelite right now or i would try and take a picture maybe adam will get one for you. the only 2 things i notice is the fake steel brading hose evo uses compared to renns solid tube and factory hoses. and the louvers(sp?) look cleaner as so does the whole heat exchanger. these are just my opinions though. you realy cant see anything so it wouldnt matter witch one you went with as far as looks go.

I had seen a few cars with the lower airdam getting tweaked. I not like that, so I assumed they would get it fixed. It may have actually not even been released when i saw it. If I remember right, it was pushing the lower grills out of place? No big deal, but just cosmetics.

I guess that would be the airdam sorry. Mine is pushed out on one side. Since my car is black on black, you have to get up with your nose next to the car to notice. Knowing you Jangy your nose has examined your whole car. LOL j/k It has preformed well, but it also looks good vs. Renn.

Rocket-Tom. promise.

My foil dam is slight tweaked (ever so slightly) due to the cooling package module not perfectly fitting. Its no biggie but if one looks straight down from my hood they will see the small bump.
