2007 Audi S6 vs. 2007 E63 AMG
Audi S6
Pros: -435hp/395tq V10 engine
-Lamborghini Gallardo engine
-Clean, handsome design with those cool LED lights in front
-Quattro AWD
-Sweet interior, including Bang & Olufsen sound
-$75,000 Price tag
-Rare car to see on the streets, not everyone has one
MBZ E65 AMG
Pros: -Powerful V8 Engine
-Nice design, but a little dated
-AMG Prestige
-Solid, clean interior
-Fast car that handles well
I would still lean towards the Audi S6....
Better ride quality
S6- Better in rain/snow
The E63 is definitley the better car. The new RS4 is far superior to the S6-Audi missed the mark.
However, the fortcoming RS6 should redress the balance as i promises 550bhp and DSC so it doesn't jump over bumps in the road like the S6- AWD is only useful if your driven wheels are actually in contact with the bitumen.

The RS4 is nice, but more of a raw machine compared to the S6. I would compare the RS4 to the C55 AMG or forthcoming M3.
The S6 appeals to the 30-45 year-old working executive (SVP, EVP, etc.) in that it is subtle, is clean in design, and has roughly 435hp/400tq and goes 0-60 in 5.0, while having Quattro AWD.
Plus, it is a rare car, and is not flooded on the streets like the W211 Chassis cars.
0-60 in 5.0 isn't the fastest on the streets these days, but going to 60mph by .3 seconds faster isn't the point. There are other factors to consider.
The engine isn't IDENTICAL to the Lambo Gallardo engine, but it is very close and has a larger displacement (5.2 liters vs. the Gallardo's 5.0 liters) and of course both are V10s.

I was going to drive it but wife opened her mouth saying..He drives a E55 and the saleman instantly said "no hard driving" ... I passed and he definitly lost the deal...kinda of already lost. I could definitly tell it would not even be close to what I am used to..then not much is. Not even the 550i..or a Lexus 450h or M45 or CLS500. These were all her other choices...so we will end up with another 550i ...she really loves that car.
Now maybe an RS6...that sounds interesting...she did like the way an RS4 looked and if it were an AUTO she may have gone for that...but we never drove it so hard to say.,,, ANyone know when the RS6 is due..price???

0.1 sec is not a big deal to me. 0.5 slower, yes that is a factor that I feel would seperate one car from another.
The E550 is a fabulous car. For the money, it might be as satisfying as owning a W210 E55 (similar in price?).
However, like I said earlier, the S6 is a cool car for the one that does not want to "march with the rest" and the current Audi A6 body style is a rare sight on these California streets.
Part of me considered the rs4, but not sure it's for me. Thats more m3 territory.

The big question is the engine. While 550bhp looks to be the agreed figure (from internet gossip, the dealer i spoke to etc), whether it will come with a NA V10, TTV10 or even a TTV8 like the previous generation remains to be seen. For instance, the current A3 can be had with a 3.2V6 but the S3 comes with a 2liter turbo which means that a TTV8 cannot be ruled out.
It will be expensive but will hold its value very well as it is limited run and they are introducing it in the middle rather than the end of the A6 chassis cycle.

The A3 is a sweet car, it was interesting how they gave the 3.2 V6 to the standard A3, and the original 2.0T inline 4 to the S3, albeit increasing the boost to make 250(?)hp.
I like the S6, and if the RS6 does come to the states, I hope it does not cannibalize S6 sales. The RS6 might be a better competitor to the E63 AMG, however the S6 fits a nice niche.
Overall, I think it will come a little short versus the E63 in terms of raw power and excitement. Nothing beats a Mercedes V8, especially supercharged!
