Any E55'rs watching Barrett-Jackson
Is there any other E55 guys out there watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction today? Lots of cool stuff on there today and a ton of stuff that I would want to buy. They just sold a cool original 67 Z/28 Camaro for $125K, a custom 57 T Bird for $180K, 68 GT500 for $150K and on and on. Too many cool cars to keep up with. They mentioned earlier that if you spent less than two minutes to look at each car at the auction, it would take over 40 hours to go through the field! That's a ton of cars.
Watch out for Bob Johnson's Hemi Cuda. It's a Pro Touring Cude that is completely modified top to bottom. He has almost 1mil into the car and he auctions it off today with no-reserve. Hopefully he'll get a a big chunk of his cash back?

I've been watching it. Can't believe a 57 283 Vette for $225,000! But there seems to be some decent deals going through also.

These 60 muscle cars are getting rediculous $$. Reminds me of the Bennie Baby craze in the 80's. Wonder how these cars will do when the baby boomers start selling them off in 10-15 years. I assume the younger generation will not have the same appreciation of their fathers dream cars. Wonder what will be the hot collector car in 10-15 years?

Million dollar question L8 ! These cars are what many of us grew up with. Now that we can buy them it's supply and demand. I have had some of the rarest cars ever to come out of Detroit and I can tell you there is no cooler feeling than driving one of these beasts. They were available to any kid back then if you could afford 2-3k...many of us couldn't and bought used musclecars for dirt cheap. We knew nothing about Euro cars. Todays kids buy cheap cars...Hondas etc. and have fun woth them. I doubt in 20 years you will see any Honda Civic going for big money. There was a magic to this era of cars that will never be repeated IMO

That was an amazing piece to watch sell. It just kept going up. I couldn't believe it when it hit 5mil! Did you buy anything or just look? I couldn't believe the deal that came across the blocks during the week. They money started getting a little heavy yesterday. I know the cars where better but, it seemed guys were getting a little more aggressive with their bidding.

A couple of those Boss 429 sales were over the top ! Ford was always several steps behind in price...buyers are flowing to those now and bringing them up to Chevy/Mopar turf. Well deserved, many very rare and fast Fords. Chevy and Mopar seemed a bit on the low side but every Tom , Dick and Harry is dragging out there E Body Mopar and looking for a million bucks. The Chevy stratospere muscle was severely lacking in quality so far and people are staying away from questionable cars . No one is there with a blank checkbook. They brought their brains this year. At least in the segment I am keeping an eye on.

But after three days at the block, we left to take a break around 2pm on Saturday. The crowd was getting ridiculous.
I was chasing a few cars, and could have walked away with a big block, tri-power '69 'Vette coupe that was very nice, but let it go. I was at $70k, it looked like I had it, another bidder came in last second at $72k and I balked at $75k.
Anyway...it was a fun week. Next year I hope to have some storage concerns addressed and someplace to put some cars I'll bring home.

There was a lot of rumbling about the soft prices last week at the auction grounds. I think most consignors left very disappointed.

I think what is happening there is buyers are getting educated...and not going there with a blank checkbook. From what I saw and what was reported the sales dollars were actually high for the best of best quality cars...look at the Boss 9 Mustangs at 500k !!! Today with high line muscle....if there are ANY issues or funky paperwork or LACK of legit paper...it will NOT bring the big bucks...Trust me...the Green Yenko Chevelle that sold at 160....I just sold mine private for twice that...my car was a 4 speed and original drivetrain with doc's. Auto vs 4 speed also makes a huge diff.
