Can anyone explain what's in the W211 "premium" package for '05 model? Tried search but no luck.

Rear roller blind (and side roller blinds): Is this a must-have option? Anyone not having it miss it, or vice-versa?

Just trying to decide what options to consider for my '05 search.

Shades are pretty cool option. I personally think you should look for every option you can get. When its time to sell its a more attractive car. Its also fun to play with all that stuff !

What are these solar panels, how important are they for the Pano roof option?Are they available through MB "parts" or somewhere else? Why exactly are these needed? Is the Pano roof not like a regular sunroof only with an extra open space for rear passengers? Do the two Pano roof sections not have a movable panel to block the sun?

The solar cells were discontinued after the 2004 model year. They powered a fan that ventilated the car with fresh air when the car got real hot inside from sitting in the sun.

Is there something unique with the Pano roof that makes it prone to overheating in the sun compared to the regular sunroof?

OK, I guess the black, expansive glass area promotes a bit more heat buildup. I found some other posts on the Pano roof after searching and got some more info that helps me understand it better. From what I can gather, the heat buildup is not so great if the shades are closed. It seems strange that MB discontinued the solar panel option. For me it is not a must have option but if the right car had it, I would take it (even w/o solar panels).

I actually wanted the pano roof in 2004 when the solar panels were still available. I liked the idea of the forced ventilation. I lost my desire for the roof when they discontinued them. I just don't want to reinforce that kind of behavior.
