Sprint Booster ride height problems

My local Sprint Booster dealer has installed the SB to let me try it for a week before I buy it!

It really works fantastically well and the car feels like it has gained 50% more power and TQ over the first 30% of gas padal travel, where we spend 90% of driving time.

One big problem: after the installation, the car leans to the left, with both front and rear right hand side being 20mm/0.8" higher than the left.
It was lowered -15mm from stock and perfectly level left to right before!

Has anyone had a similar experience after installing the SB in their E55?

are you sure this isn't something you only just now noticed? i know of many e55's and e500's (stock and lowered) that lean to the left. actually i haven't seen a single e55 that the passenger's side rear isnt' 1/4"-1/2" higher than the driver's side when parked on level ground.

I agree. i doubt the Sprintbooster would affect that. On the other hand, if one of your washer sides is off, it will also cause the rear to be off as they are all related.

There was nothing whatsoever wrong with my hi-tech washers until I got the SB installed. It's really weird.
My car was almost perfectly level left to right with no more than 2mm difference at any time. Now it's 20mm higher front and rear and it happened immediately after the SB installation.
They are going to check it out with the diagnostic computer and if need be, disconnect the SB to see if there is any change and if it re-sets itself.
If that does not work, it's back to my friendly MBZ dealer for a warranty fix

Remove the washers first and see if it makes a difference and especially before you go to the dealer.

By the way is the SB unit just a plug in? How much?
Cheers.

Yes I will, thanks. It's not so easy to adjust the rear sensor without a hoist!
SB is a short "extension cord" with a plug at each end that bridges the gas pedal with the throttle wire in the fire wall. It's all well hidden after fitting.
AUD 594.00 installed.

Here is a quick test. Take the S/B off and measure all for corners. Then put the S/B back on and the make measurements. That should tell u if it is the S/B.

I agree with everyones comments about pulling it off to check. At one time my passenger side sat 4, yes 4 inches lower than the driver side. I could not even turn my wheels.

Look at my image -- top left of the back wheel. There is no rubber showing.

What caused it and how did you fix it? Just don't say it was your mother in law...

A faulty leak in the airomatic compression was the culprit. It happened twice in the first year and covered under warranty. It would usually get super lowered after 24 hours of sitting...I mean slammed to the ground...4 inches on all corners.... Once I went to a bar...came out 3 hours later and there were a bunch of teens looking at the car saying they had never seen a benz slammed to the ground like that....it looked ghetto and I was embarassed. When I started the car the suspension would go back up.

Rafal, good luck.

I guessed it was " plug and play" and so why is the price quoted as installed? Surely you/me/anyone could get it send by mail and 'install' it themselves.

Yes but then you have to buy it up front, hack into the gas pedal to install it and if you don't like the outcome after a test drive, you still own it!
My car is all fixed! My SB installer, Autohaus1, is an unofficial Mercedes workshop since the 60's and he has the MBZ software. Using his laptop, without any problem he adjusted the height of all four corners to what I wanted. I can even get rid off my washers now if I want to and he will lower it the same way.
It's still unclear what caused the front right wheel to pop up; maybe the sensor is failing to read the correct voltage?
Anyway, I can now enjoy the thrill of driving my "brand new car". The power delivery is so linear, straight from idle, that even my wife, who knows little about cars , has noticed the difference, from the passenger seat.

Where is Autohaus1? Do they have connections in Brisbane???

When he did the stardiagnostics lowering did he say if the voltage on the 'high' wheel was out of range? That might be indicative of a failing sensor.

Thanks.

They are in Sydney. O'Riordan St., Alexandria. Yes the front right hand sensor
had a much lower voltage range available for adjustment and was getting out of range. we maxed out and then fiddled with the angle readings. In the long term I will remove all the washers and take it to the dealer to recalibrate and/or replace the sensor.
