ASP Pulley Owners for E55- Satisfied or not?

I know the ASP pulleys have been debated over and over and over again.
Issues addressed:
-the increased boost compared to other tuner pulleys that may cause more stress
-intake air temp is higher and supercharger shutsdown when constant WOT is applied

BUT
for those who have installed ASP pulleys, are you satisfied with their product?

.............there isn't even a question. The negative theories you here are from representatives of vendors who sell the more expensive ones.

Is the ASP the largest available? The heating issues isn't the pullie's fault. Seems like they are a good mate to the IC upgrade.

pleased

I have ASP pulley and love it - the adaptive ECU did take some miles to learn what was going on

Never had a shut down yet - but its winter - so plan to do cooling upgrades in summer if (when) needed.

Cost was good - fitting was straight forward

love it

56hp and 84ft/lbs of torque for $1,200.
Show me a better deal.

That's on a CL though, I think you get 50% less on the E55.
Just kidding.

you can do the 160F thermostat mod and the -10oC STAR change to deal with the heat problem, also an upgraded I/C pump from RENNtech or KLEEMANN will compensate for the problem too.

I'm confused on what the 16oF thermostat or the 10C Star mod do for the SC? I'm getting the Star mod done, just to be one of the "cool" guys, but not so sure if it will really help?

The IC upgrade is a definite and now I wonder if that, along with the ASP pulley isn't the best route?

Obviously these mods would not help you gain power but just keep the engine temp more consistent so that the s/c would shutdown.

I guess I could see were any cooling under there helps. I just can't see where they would be nearly as effective as the IC upgrade. I guess i could try the ASP and see?

Victor has a thread that discussed the effect of the -10 mod. It's probably still up on the server.

The -10c mod is not a substitute, but rather an enhancement to the IC upgrade.

The factory wants you to run pretty hot for emissions, but cooler makes more power.

I would do the -10c mod whether I did the IC mod or not.

I don't need to research it. If you guys say its good, I'll do it. I figure i'll get an IC upgrade when I get around to it anyway. May as well get the Star mods done.

I got ASP and it runs great. Welded larger diam ring over stock damper. Would be nicer if there were some rivets to support the outer ring, or have a single weld all the way round the ring - The pulley has maybe 3-4 welds of a couple of inches. I think occasional checking of these welds is prudent ...

The pulley runs 100% true and the water pump reduction pulley is a quality piece although the holes do not line up 100% you may need to file them slightly - which is easily done.

Performance is clearly obivous with no ECU or anything else. IAT's are obviously higher but no shut down experienced yet - but as has been said it is winter. In summer this could be problematic without a better cooling package. We shall see...

Over here in Singapore its like summer all year round (33C day/27C night) and so far no issues with supercharger shut off. Was initially worried about the quality of the welding and the weight of the pulley, but hey can't ask for too much at the price I'm paying and the car seems to be running great. Only problem is the jerky engagement of the supercharger at low rpms but I believe u get that with other brands as well.

It is a factory part modified by PTE. I just received mine at it appears to be a first class modification. I saw a response on another thread about damage to your engine due to running cooler temps....that is chicken little at its best.

Most modern ECU's go out of cold range after 45 secs and some are set around 140 degrees. Low oil temps NOT coolant temps will affect wear in the motor. Todays lower "W" weight oils do not have flow issues or sludge issues of the 80's. So take advice of the nay sayers and experts a bit tongue in cheek. The temps are for emissions NOT performance.

Anyway my car goes the dyno this Thursday for baseline and ASP Pulley and then dyno again for the results.
