No doubt that Chevy is much much much much better than that flimsy crappy and waaaaaay overpriced and slow z8 and e55 of yours
The current Z06 will run five laps over the z8 and e55 in the track while it grills its cheese and eggs and throw an omelette to the top of the slow z8, laughing at it at the same time![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
And let's not get started what the new supercharged Z06 will do to the other z wannabe!![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

crappy flimsy e55? I do not think so. And most on this board would agree.
And as for my Z8? I think that has held its value better than any corvette in the last 20 years. If I bought a CORVETTE the same time I bought my Z8 in 2002 and put the same amount of miles on it, the corvette would be worth roughly 40% of what I paid. The Z8 is worth 85% of what I paid for it. Now, I did not buy the Z8 as an investment but that has to tell you something.
I realize that my 911TT on order is still a tick or two behind the corvette z06 but I will not look like some douchebag that just bought the vette because he won the lottery's pick 3 that day. And that was the first thing he thought of(before his rent). OK that was a little harsh but so be it.

To some degree it is an extension of your personality. assuming your not a car nut and own 30 different kind of cars. The enviromentalist (with means) probably would not buy a zo6 and the gear head (with means) probably would not buy a used festiva. I mean my best freind has a Z06 and I call him a cheesed*ck whenever he drives it. Because that is what he looks like to me.
Sure there are awesome people that have every kind of car. I am just speaking in (politically incorrect terms) generalities.
I admit the Z06 is fast could beat me at the track. BUt if I wanted to beat a z06 i could (maybe a noble) that is not the point.

Z06 is the best bang for the buck sports car in the WORLD.
With the S/C Z06 it would probably put it in another GALAXY.
Good job CHEVY!
Word to GM/Chevy: Don't forget about your truck line, since Toyota just handed you an as$ with the new Tundra.
I would not consider any other truck in the market unless you need Turbo Diesel to do some serious hauling.

The older Vettes created a stereotype for the Vette guys. They were Redneck's Porsche's or a poor man's Porsche. The C5 and especially the C6 has changed the market. You don't have the stereotypical crowd buying these car's now. I haven't liked any of the Vette's after 67 until the C5. I would love to own one of these cars today and I think the stereotypes have been crushed by the new C6.

Another issue concerning Chevrolet is putting that much horsepower in the hands of drivers who's only qualification is having a big enough checkbook to buy the car. Wallace suggested that a high performance driving course might be required for all buyers. He didn't mention any time frame for its introduction, but don't be surprised to see it debut at next year's Detroit auto show.

Man..I just had a long day and this thread has made me laugh..thanks fellas.
Just my 2 cents..there aren't many icon sports cars out there but if I had to name a few the Corvettte and 911 top the list. Yes i agree with whoever said the 911 is overpriced and under powered...but whoever said there is a benz that could beat a new Z06(the 505 hp one) around a track...not on your best day..such a Benz does not exist!

Rumor has it that the F430 and Gallardo fail to supply there cars to magazines for testing against the Z06 because they don't want their 200k cars being beat by a 70k Vette.

That's all that is, rumors. These cars (exotics) have been getting out performed for years. They don't compete in the same market and they don't try too. The Vette is the best bang for the buck car out there by far. That's what American muscle has been doing for years, mass producing bang for your buck. Ferrari, Lambo's and others have limited production runs of their cars to keep up values and prestige. They don't need magazine articles to sell their cars. They have guys on waiting list right now that have been there since previous model years.

A 115,000$ corvette is beyond rediculous. You can buy a 40,000$ base C6, turbocharge it for 20,000$ and have a faster car for half the price. Furthermore, nobody will even be able to tell the difference between a bi-turbo C6 and this "Blue Devil" corvette. This car proves how desperate GM is.... there is no doubt they will release a $150,000 version with 800hp soon

20+ to list......
Are they going to call it Z06SC or the rumored Z06R? It's a badass car no doubt, and you sure will get a lot of attentions driving that car, but fit and finish in the interior of the domestics is just not my cup of tea. I'm putting my name down for a 2008 Skyline GT-R instead, given its base price for 75k and with an extra 20-30k invested into the engine, suspension, brakes, and weight reduction, I'm sure it can perform just as well.

A great engine does not a great car make.
It can do 9 second quarter miles or trap 140 mph, but it still has a lego interior that I could have built better in the 1980s when I was playing with legos. Watch out if that thing gets ahead of you for spare parts will come flying to your windshield.
And NO, Chevy does not make good SUVs or trucks. European or Japanese SUVs/trucks will run circles around ANYTHING chevy offers in all aspects - durability, power, mileage

But again they are fast, it is just not all about fast all the time. I wonder if I renntech my CL600 2007 I would have a chance...hmmmmm
![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
but it would be fun to smoke someone in my new CL.
with this Chicago weather I would bury any Z06 all day with my on order 911-997TT. It is snowy and crappy
I will post pics of 07 cl600 on this forum 2 morrow
it is sweet but only 31 miles on it.
I will be driving my chevy escalade 2morrow!
really.

I agree about your engine comment as well. but other options came standard with the 500. well I will just leave it at that.
