*** Custom SLR Style Cams ***

In preparation for this new VIN # confirmation policy that MB is coming down with, I figure our supply of toys from the SLR parts bin will eventually dry up.

I now have a solution for anyone that wants a Plug & Play drop in set of SLR style cams. These cams are made from billet blanks by a very reputable German manufacturer who does nothing but make camshafts. The profile is copied from an SLR cam and yields some decent horsepower in combination with the 80mm TB & a pulley & ECU car as seen by JakPro1's dyno of 551rwhp.

The best part is... $2,300USD gets you the pair!

Here is a pic of the first set I received.. Hot off the presses...

How is the driveability of these cams? Idle needs to be adjusted?

Nope.. Nothing needs to be adjusted.. With the 80mm TB in place, the idle is perfect. I am sure it is fine with the stock TB also but I havent tried it.. JakPro1 has been running SLR profile cams with my TB for a while now and they are running great.

Maybe he can chime in with his experience on the idle & driveability.

These will basically behave just like the SLR & kleemann cams (Kleemann cams = SLR Cams).

No. Yes.

Kleemann cams = SLR cams in terms of profile.. (that's what my information states anyways)

In terms of price, that is the only way they are different. Kleemann cams are $4,000+ I believe.

Couple of other things I forgot to mention...

I always forget to factor in duties & taxes whenever I post my costs on stuff.. LOL.. I think the real cost for SINGLE unit orders will be closer to $2500USD + shipping to you guys.

If I can bulk up orders together then the duties & other costs will be spread out and I should be able to reduce the price.

Oh yeah.. I am sending my set of cams to Albert (rflow306).. Since his car is not half-apart like mine, and we know based on his recent dyno what kind of power he is pushing, we'll get a true indication of how much more these cams will offer once he finishes installing them. He is using the latest ECU file that is in my car so he is going to be the test bed for the cams while I sort out the intercooler & heads project.

Victor, I believe the kleeman cams are the same as the schrick cams. Slightly smaller profile than the SLR.

How straight forward is the install? Can an experienced shop that have not done one of these cam installs do it? or do I have to take to to the stealer to install them...?

Install is straight forward.. these are a drop-in replacement.. 2 special MB tools required to do the install.. Its 4 - 5hrs to do the re/re by a competant tech.

I would either take it to a MB dealer or take it to a reputable shop that has experience installing cams in MB cars.

Rflow306 has the cams in his possession and should be installing them soon.. We'll find out how much his dyno improves once it gets wrapped back up..

Is it worth putting these on a N/A 5.5L car? Or do these just have a cam profile strictly made for F/I cars?
