Tap the Brake Pedal to keep Stationary?
I was recently in Asia, and read about a feature of E Class Mercs in a local auto magazine. The description was brief, but it implied that if you tapped the brake pedal once the car had come to a stop, the car would remain stationary (no auto trans creep) until you hit the gas pedal. I assume this would allow you to take your foot off the brake pedal at a stop light.
I tried this but could not get it to work on my 2005 E55. Is anyone else aware of this feature?

Not sure where you are located. I did read something similar awhile back. Apparently this is a feature not offered on U.S. spec cars (prob all of N.A. too). It was/is one of the "special" features of SBC that was avail. just about everywhere else but here.

This is the "hold" feature of all new Mercedi. Experienced it on the CL550, ML63 and E63. If you e.g. are in front of a traffic light and you press/depress the brake the word "hold" appears in the instruments and the car remains put without having to keep the brake pressed. AFAIK introduced on the SL55 in 2005 or 2006 I believe.

The C55 stays put during most lights, I don't think I have the "hold" feature though.
It has a slower idleing foward speed than any other auto car I've driven.

yeah, its called SBC Hold. When you've rolled to a stop at a red light, you'll most likely have your foot lightly holding the brake pedal. Push it a little harder now, and you'll see "SBC H" in the display. Remove your foot from the pedal, and the car wont move until you "pump" the brake again, or press the accelerator.
