W211 E55 Base Price - $74,115!
Mercedes-Benz Germany has listed price of German W211 E55:
List Price of 75,500 euro which is $74,110.80 usd.
However, it also list 'Buying Price' which includes 16% MwSt for 87,580 eur which is $85,968.50 usd.
What the hell is 16% MwSt?

Probably some kind of tax, like VAT in the UK. Base price could indeed be that amount, but I have been told by several dealers that they will sell at 'market price', so that means whatever they can gouge you for. It seems to be a common term, so for those hoping to buy one, be scared, and don't even think about that base price as being anything accurate.

Well, my order states "MSRP" on the contract, and my salesman has assured me that's what I'll pay. Nevertheless, I've seen a similar pricing sheet released by MB, and herein lies the problem: if you check out the pricing on the E320's, they're substantially less than the U.S. prices. I'm wondering if, similarly, the E55 is listed significantly below what it will market for in the U.S. Just food for thought ...

Prices cannot be compared between different markets. MBUSA sets the prices over here, and they come optioned differently and they'll be priced as they can sell them, not for a fixed price around the world. I think you'll have to wait until the price for the US E55 is actually announced to have reliable pricing information.
