doesnt look right... in the 2nd run it looks like the E55 is going 35 MPH. Maybe his IC pump went dead and the car went limp. Unless the Evo has 500BHP++ there's no way that he'd walk the 55 that hard.

an evo doesnt have to have 500 whp to beat a stock e55 it has awd and weighs about 1000 lbs. lighter, it could about 380 to 400 and beat a e55 because i know for a fact that they run low 13's and high 12's stock

I run a sports compact shop/parts business for over 5 years, the new EVO 8/9 street driven there's quite a few running stroker and over 500rwhp on pump gas, so yes it's believable to beat an E55, maybe not an M5/M6 due to top speed gearing over 160mph but that's also another week spot of E55 on top speeds.

The reason I'm asking is that it seems (in my area at least) that 95% of the Evo's(WRX's too)belong to kids.I know they're pretty quick and these cars have a HUGE potential for HP,but you can never tell what kinda performance mods have been done just by seeing a larger exhaust&hearing an aftermarket B.O.V. hiss.
Does it have to be heavily modded to spank an E55,or is that attainable by your average "kid" owner with a limited budget?

03 RRE Evo, 06 E55
hardly cheap to build an evo that outruns a e55, believe me I know. 5k? That's a really low #.....I've spent a lot of money getting my past evo to where it was and it didn't come cheap....normaly kids will be doing the typical bolt ons, downpipe, catless, catback, (intake either keep stock or upgrade, doesn't matter since it's not a limitation yet), manual boost controller, fuel pump, afc (cheap form of tuning just to play with air fuel ratio from apexi or now even better with evo9, stock ecu easily tuneable).....that'll make 300whp quite easy and then you can do cams and give you another 30whp....this is all on 91 octane and pour in some 100oct+ and you can achieve more...these are typical quick bolt ons people can do for some decent gains....after that it gets expensive with headwork, turbo upgrade, IC upgrade, fuel system, injectors, and for me before, rebuilding the whole motor with new internals that can take a beating with lower compression....the 2.4 4g64 bottom end replacement is still preferred over strokin the motor in my opinion. I'm hardly surprised an evo outruns an e55, I mean.....these are cars that are capable of putting out 600whp+ (extreme ones out there over 1000whp)....I don't see many e55's even managing over 500 whp much less 600whp....yeah the turbo lag is a bit of a killer but you downshift a couple gears and it's bye bye benz. It really is no big deal.

E63 biturbo
I've been there and done that with Evos and must say the Evo 8/9s are so easy to get power out of, even more so than the 4/5/6/7s. What you can get with $5k now, you would probably need to spend twice the amount before to achieve the same performance. One of the main strengths of these cars is their 4WD traction. Off the line if the driver gets a good launch, you don't need a heavily modified Evo to beat an E55. They are quick. But getting a perfect launch in that car is not easy. At higher speeds say above 80mph, you will need at least a 400+bhp Evo to spank our V8 Kompressors.

i think above 120mph the e55 amg will walk away from a 400bhp evo i think you forget the translosses for a permanent awd vehicle are at 25-27% in some cases evo`s have been know to lose 80hp at the wheel
dont forget in some modified impreza`and evo`s its ok to do near full throttle launches with awd and front rear diffs its 0-60 time will beat most motorbikes
one thing i will say is that the impreza and evo can also shake it down on the track and would almost certainley take an awesome driver in the 55; to keep up with even a 300bhp evo on most types of circuit and thats in the dry
but the fact remains the 55' is driven by who on these vids ??? the launch looks poor.
and a slightly tweaked 55 amg with lets say 520bhp and huge 550lbft will stomp on even the litchfield type 25 impreza £40,000 (($80,000)) thats got big hp and warenty but even so with its 2.5ltr v6 it still "only" has 440lbft.
in a straight line an amg is still mightly powerfull once traction has been established you have to be looking at an evo with almost same power levels due to translosses and lower torque

Only one way to find out! When I go against an E55K in My 400whp Eagle Talon!

is anyone else sick of this lame statement. for years it was "but in the twisties" and now this. first of all who races over 160mph and second of all the e55 isn't as weak in upper gears as armchair paper racers would have us believe...ESPECIALLY modified ones!

Yes I will be running the M's to see what they are made of also. I will never claim that the E55 is an easy car to beat especially modded. There are many instances where E55's are pulling away from M's at speeds in the triple digits.

As a matter of fact, I have footage of an E55 pulling from an M in the triple digits... the discussion of which is faster the E55 or the Ms is pointless because those of us who run our cars in the streets and at the tracks know the real answer..
What I would like to see in the triple digits is the following:
1) Z06 vs. E55
2) F430 vs. E55
3) 997 turbo vs. E55
And BTW, I am not talking stock vs. stock.

btw, i had an impromptu f430 f1 encounter from 70-150mph and put 3 car lengths on him with my k3.
i had several runs with a buddies (claimed) 640hp twin turbo 996 from a stop, 30mph roll, and 60mph roll. all heats were dead even until AFTER 120mph when i would barely start to pull away. so for people to say these cars don't have top end only means they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about!!!
i tried to race another buddies c6 z06 but he wouldn't. i let him drive my car and he admitted that it "felt" faster. this means nothing but i thought i'd include it fyi.

In the EVO vs E55 vid that Evo I would suspect has more than 330whp! If so I am led to believe that the 55 would have caught it and pulled it upstairssince it has 330whp. When we see it running with the F430 that only tells me that the EVO has more than 330whp going on. It has too! The F430 is much lighter than the 55 and look at how close the Evo was.

a c6 z06 would rape an e55 stock for stock and most modified ones they easily get to low 11's in the 1/4 mile w/a good driver hell there was one huy that hit 10.8 at 127 with only drag radials and to --phil-- sti's don't have v6's they have flat fours

The above thread is a link to dragtimes.com. As is clearly evident, modified E55s can also get to low 11's in the 1/4 mile. That is why I think it would be a good race...

we're not talking stock e55. against all but the best drivers, a modified e55 has a VERY good chance with a c6 z06.

Same EVO vs. F430. That EVO is far from stock.
BTW, nice to race on a curved road with stray dogs crossing.
