Wink Finally... Another W211 will be on my hand

I'll be getting a W211 (to be picked up next weekend) and I hope this will not be a nightmare like my '03.

It's an '05 E55 designo mocha 16K on the clock... all options except distronic, power rear sunshade ( not sure why the previous owner did not order one ) . Pics will follow...

Now... one question that can make me cancel the purchase...

The car has past-due Service E (10 days past due). What is service E and how much does it cost? Should I be concerned? The seller claimed it was just an oil change... I don't think so... but will check w/ a dealer today also.

Then I'll compile your answers and dealers', and make the decision this week. So I may be by next weekend or the salesman.

Good luck with it, you'll love the Mocha Black. The color is rich and looks different under different light condition (changes from black to golden-black to brown-black).

Service E is actually more involved than just oil change, the following thread might help.

SWEET!! Congrats on the ride.

Service is not just an oil change. I think my pops just paid about $600 for his. I will look up my paperwork and see exactly what all it entails. Others may have different news.

Since this one is late, you should make sure you have the other records. Even if the non-MB dealer doesn't have them, they can be had IF it was done at an MB dealership. Simple VIN search.

LOL.... oil change.... I'm gonna the salesman

I got a quote of $525.... no wonder he dropped $500 immediately when I asked about the service E. I'm sure he knew it would be more than an oil change. Luckily it seems I only lost $25.

Thanks again...

If the car is approaching 60K miles, it will need a fuel filter. My dealer quoted me $800 for the filter change, as it is inside the fuel tank. The SA said the normal price for the entire 60K service is about $1,300.

Congrats, I wouldn't worry to much about service on a 16k car if you look at what they actually do it is all checking they don't really do any work to the car.

My bad. It has been so long since I read the initial post, I forgot what it said. At least I was right about it being an E55. Right?

Congratulations and welcome back. It'll treat you better than your '03 did I'll bet. One freeway blast with that endless torque pushing you and people will wonder why you have that evil grin all day.
