Noob list of electronics questions
1) Do any of the model years take MP3 CDs?
2) Is there an AUX input for iPods or MP3 players and if so, starting with what model year?
3) Bluetooth? MB was behind on this I heard.
4) Has anyone done any type of video installation for rear passengers or used the LCD screen on the nav for one? (very handy for my 3 year old passenger!)
Any other electronic things or interior things that you can think of that a noob should know?
Lastly, how do I know whether it has the better stereo?

Disappointed in the lack of response...
I have found through more reading that these cars can play MP3 cd's if you have the engineer turn it on??
I found that at least by '05 there's an AUX input, but apparently not on '03. Not sure about 04.
Am I wrong?

I believe you can play Mp3 CD's,
dont know about the aux input in glove box for ipod, my CL doesn't have one
no bluetooth although now it can be added
you can buy Euro Nav units to play DVD's
hope this helps a little scott

I'm not sure about the AUX input but you should find it in the glove box, closest to the passenger door.
Your COMAND should play MP3 CDs, but not MP3 DVDs. Also, I don't think it can recongize folders.
For the rear seat video monitor, you can probably try mbdoctor.com or mbenznl.com.
Bluetooth is available through Argos but phone compatibility has been an issue.
Your car should come standard with the HK Logic 7.

1) I know 2005 will play MP3 Cds in the single disk player. The 6 disk changer will not.
2) 2005 has an Aux input in the glove box and it will play just about anything that has a line output.
3) No
4) Get in touch with Sunman or Steve, MBenzNL.
Yes, get drive dynamic seats, keyless-go, and illuminated door sills.
Should say Harmon Kardon. I think.

My six disc also plays MP3 cds. May have something to do with either how the files are burned or how the command is setup.
AMG door sills are only a Euro option, so you should consider getting them after the car. In the US, dealers only offer the ones that say Mercedes Benz
Get every option you can. I did not want pano or phone, but I would have liked distronic. I have all else.

Does anyone know what the offset, etc was on the 19s? I assume they aren't the same as on the SL65?

I think it's the AMG sills and the President's Edition was released in the late '03 model year.
I think the offset was the same as the regular 2 piece Style IV listed on the AMG Manufaktur catalog.

Maybe the 2005s just don't play MP3s in the changer. I burned one and it plays just fine in the single dick player, but not in the 6 disk player. My door sills were installed by the dealership before they delivered my car. The salesman ordered them from the parts department and they were there waiting when my car arrived on the truck. He recommended the AMG sills himself. I did not know there was a problem getting them vs. the Mercedes sills.
And, Scott, I would also get Sirius and the phone. I have the voice control as well as the phone. They are both handy options to have. Actually, I have every option, except pano roof, that was offered in 2005 and there is not one that I wish I had not ordered.

Sweet!! I didn't know you could get AMG sills in the US.

My salesman was an extraordinary guy. The order was complex, there was a cancellation by another person and I received his build slot, resulting in changing his specs to mine. Several accessories purchased and installed. Everything was done perfectly and on the first try. I highly recommend him to anyone ordering in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area.

This was done 2 years ago and things may have changed by now, but he appeared like it was nothing out of the ordinary to order them. He said I had a choice between the 2 styles and he said he would install the AMG sills on an AMG car. The next time I thought about them was when I saw them on the car.

I went the Steve route as well. I love em. Nah, if you got em 2 years ago, you can prolly get them still keep in touch with that dealer. I love a dealer that actually knows their product.

Thanks guys. No, I don't have the car yet. I was very close to getting one Saturday, but we were about 1400 bux apart on what I wanted it to be. Its' ok b/c it lacked a couple of options I want.
All this is very helpful!
One more question, if the car doesn't have SAT or Phone installed, is it hard to get it installed? I mean, the wiring is already there for sat right? I don't want an aftermarket type job for sat.
